Yes well if you are happy with the USA being next to Slovenia...all the best.

But keep in mind all these pissant countries are doing it for 2/3 the cost.

The changes that will come out of this Cngress are likely to be MONUMENTAL in nature. Costs will be lowered substantially.

Perhaps you should relax a little and give it a chance?

I have seen the studies - I've been working on this, as part of a citizens committee, who reported to the Congress, for almost the last 2 years.

Those studies are in the hands of the Congress - and the debate over them started in the US Senate last week.

Frankly, I'm not concerned if you accept my representations or not - makes no difference to me. But, if you keep following the news over the next few week/months on the issue, you will hear about those studies, presented by the Congress of the United States (The Senate Finance Committee, chaired by Sen. Baucus)

This concept is even supported by the current Administration.
As long as it is "voluntary" you are still going to have about half the people paying for a system the other half use and don't pay for. That is one of the biggest reasons that the cost for those who do pay keeps rising- because when the other 1/2 that don't pay show up at the ER somebody else has to pay for them. The biggest refom needed is to make participation mandatory for all people.
Barring that then we need to deny access to those who do not pay. But I do not think that Americans have the stomach to see people dying on the sidewalks outside hospitals.

From what I have heard, its because the hospitals and health care providers are barely keeping their heads above water, and they cannot afford new equipment, like CAT or MRI scanners, so the few they do have are overused, hence the waiting lines. When I saw my doctor on a routine visit, he told me I needed an MRI, I waited two days, I doubt I would get that in Canada, or England.

I see Japan was at no. 10. But Japan is having problems related to it's fixed medical prices set by the gov't. 50% of Japan's hospitals are having deficit issues because of those artifical prices.

I will support a universal or expanded healthcare system for America that has the approval of most accountants and book keepers.

NEWSFLASH

Nobody in support of single payer Universal healthcare claims it's a perfect system. Yes it has it's drawbacks....There very well could be longer wait periods and denial of services that are extremely risky and/or costly.

But it will lower our healtcare costs and it will provide health care services for all Americans.
