REALLY?So why those that rejoice in this tax always say "you shouldn't smoke anyway" "you need to quit" "hope you die soon to be rid of you smokers" "you don't that" "hopefully the cost will make people quit"

Those are quotes to me that sound like people who are just dandy making people quit and who view smokers as such low lifes they actually hope they die...........

Where is my little yellow star to pin on me?

No, it is absolutely NOT "PROPER" to use legislation / taxation to force people to live the way the government (read Nanny) wants them to.

Lionking, in a way, I actually like for my cigs to cost $6 a pack.

I'm hoping that the prices continuing to be driven up and up will serve as a sufficient incentive to quit.

Smoking is a right? Which amendment covers that?

Certain activities of the individual are restricted or prohibited because of public safety. You can't drive anyway you want, and indeed, the constitutional right of free speech is also restricted based on public safety.

Of course it's a good idea. I don't want my neighbor opening a mega-hog lot on his 8 acres. I don't want a meth lab next door, either. I don't want my neighbor's kid to drive 80 down our dead-end street. There are plenty of things that the government should control about people's choices.

Kind of a silly question, actually.
