Everyone seems to have a Sarah Palin story of ignored calls, mishandled invitations or unanswered e-mail. Disorganized is how one might charitably describe the Palin operation. While I am not a big fan of Kathleen Parker I will give credit where credit is due, she is sensible and not delusional like most of the right's media outlets.washingtonpost.com

The joke is on the GOP party leaders. McCain pulled Palin out of his pocket like a bright, shiny, piece of fool's gold, in order to attract the GOP base; people who tend to be attracted to bright, shiny objects. But, before the election was even held, Palin went rogue on them and wouldn't do what they wanted. Now, the GOP leadership would prefer to move on from Palin because they've realized that, although Palin is an idiot, she's not a useful idiot like Bush because they can't keep her under control. The problem is, the GOP base is still fascinated by the bright shiny object. Hmm, what to do?
