The rage in PTSD is real. It's a shame that this had to happen. God bless all involved, especially the families...
It's going to be extremely interesting how this ends.
If possible, I hope some understanding and good comes from this. Maybe now, the federal government won't wait too long in order to give troubled vets the help they need.
PCM, there are all too many stories, both currently and from VietNam and Desert Storm where the V.A. and Feds did as little as possible to make our guys whole again. I hold out little hope that this time will be better.

I wonder what "stressful mental tests" means exactly? And what's the purpose of doing that when a person is at the end of a tour? To identify possible problems that might need to be dealt with? That seems awfully hand-holdy for the military, but I have no idea about this.

I have PTSD myself. It's been a tough battle. I prayed often that the 'new' PTSD vets would not have to go through what Vietnam PTSD vets had to go though. But our government on almost every level still play their games.

That story is absolutely gross!!! The VA seriously argues that the guy's seizures are from an accident two decades ago, and the symptoms just happen to manifest after injuries in Iraq? I seriously hope there is a hell for some of those VA people!
I first began losing my hearing while in the service as a result of gunfire and flying as a helicopter crewman. When my hearing loss became profound enough to require hearing aids my wife and friends insisted that I should try to get my hearing aids through the VA, I told them they were nuts! There was no way I was going to go through the process of finding my medical records and try to prove that my hearing loss was service related. I just shelled out the $6 grand out of pocket. The grief alone would have been worth twice that amount.
You see police with 10 and 20 years years experience snap and abuse citizens or really go off on criminal suspects. Thats just from day to day stress of dealing with the lowlifes of society. Being over there for more than 12 or 18 months is a hardship and shouldn't be mandatory. The guy had his issues but we don't know what what going on at the time and how he was being treated. We'll find out what happened, how it happened and maybe be able to pass judgement. Until then, just pray for the families of those affected.
