No able bodied type should be getting a dime of government handouts including the addicts. We need welfare reform asap so that the elderly who are unable to work can have help and those able to work should not be penalized for their motivation.

I think that goverment reform is something we need more than either health care reform, or social security reform.

youd be surprised what can happen in a country to change all that.
sunamis, wars, meltdowns, we think we will go on exactly as now, not always.

I figure with social security already broken, peebo will make private retirements shore up social security, and taxes on the middle class going up to pay for all the entitlement programs.

I dumped my retirement package, took the hit in penalties and taxes and got what I could out of it. after all, getting something is better than getting nothing after the federal goverment steals the entire thing to pay for their illegalities.

Social Security will be Broke by 2037

Earth shattering news. As if numerous folks of all political persuasions have not been saying this for years.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Social Security and Medicare retirement and health programs for the elderly will run short of funds sooner than previously thought because the recession has taken a toll on tax revenues, a government report released on Tuesday showed.
The Social Security trust fund will be exhausted by 2037, four years earlier than previously estimated, and the Medicare hospital trust fund will become insolvent by 2017, two years earlier than estimated, said a report by the trustees of the two popular programs.

It's all IOU's as we speak anyways (money was spent long ago on other gov. programs). After 2037 they will be able to take care of 3/4 of the benefits and if nothing is done the % they can take care of diminishes further. I got an idea, let's add more social welfare and more "free" benefits. The kicker is the worst the economy the faster it diminishes.

Next I was thinking we should start free child care. After that mani and pedicures.

Shock and awe people! Time to pay for the porn on CNN - watching Iraq blow up and be in awe of our expensive shiny military gadgets. It does cost ya know. Not attacking Iraq alone could have saved us $700 billion. And this year, Obama increased the defense budget - spending more than the next 15 countries combined was not enough.
