What? How do you explain that?

If a black person shops only black owned businesses.....
If a white person shops only at white owned businesses......
If an Asian shops only at Asian owned businesses...

All are equal.
Either all are racist or none are racist.

What about the flip-side? What if a business only served black or white people? Is this racist?

Two things:

Firstly, what is the person's intent? Are they acting out of malice towards whites? Well, then it would be racist. Or are they trying to sponsor some kind of pride, self-affirmation, help a fellow group member, etc? That is romantic, idealistic, and ultimately unrealistic. Which leads me to:

Secondly, how is it possible? Imagine all the items, services, and sheer minutiae we utilize in our daily lives. I doubt anyone could procure everything from only black-owned businesses. Can people procure fish, meat, fruits and veggies, cars, gas, flights, electronics and clothes only from black-owned businesses? No, they cannot. They might be able to restrict their dry cleaning to a black fella rather than an Asia. But I reckon that would not survive a price cut by the Asian.

These folks are akin to the college student sitting in the dorm room slugging a beer and stating that the government should just end poverty. In other words, they are immature, ignorant, overly-idealistic, sophmoric and maybe even a bit mad. Certainly unrealistic. But racist? Not so sure in this case.

You know, nothing makes me more disgusted than to drive through an area and see great stores but all of them have signs in foreign languages.

I can't read the signs, I can't read the labels on the products. I could be spraying what I thought was air freshener but ends up being hair spray.

It's discrimination against everyone who doesn't understand that language. Is it legal for them to have signs and carry products in only one foreign language? No. And that's wrong.

Same for TV shows on cable, I can't understand a damn thing they're saying, and do they have to broadcast in SAP in English... No. Is that discrimination... YES.

As there is no official language of the USA, I reckon a business owner can put the sign in any language he or she chooses. If they are willing to pay the price of lost business from you, that is their choice. Somehow I doubt its stopping you from procuring hair spray.

Broadcasting in SAP is once again the choice of the broadcaster. That is free enterprise.

Now if you brought up multilingual ballots, I might agree with you.

Yes, it is beyond racist for blacks to only patronize black owned businesses.

To answer your question OP.

I didn't and I'm not going to read all 22 pages, but how exactly does one know if a certain business is "black"? Are there signs that these stores put up, or is it just a certain type of store that most people would assume was "black owned"?

We have so many more important things to worry about than the color of someone's skin! We can not help if we are black , white, asian, etc. We could not choice our race! Please worry about more important things such as cancer prevention, proverty, homelessness. These are things that we can control! Anyone who spends so much time worring about the color of another person's skin or their race is ignorant! Find something to do that will bnenefit society!

Here's an interview with Maggie Anderson:

I remember listening to it when it first aired.... it's an interesting interview.
