Not necessarily - but some do get tired of "open-minded," judgemental people that tell them what they should do while also arguing that it should be no big deal to burn the American flag because it's just a piece of cloth. As to the OP, no, I don't own one.
People wearing a flag of American traitors and people burning the American flag are both making statements. Both are protected by the Constitution. Protection by the Constitution does not mean the wearers have the brains of a frog.
I find the Confederate flag to be very offensive. I still, even if very annoyed, will defend their right to display it.
FWIW - The Emancipation Proclamation was primarily designed to completely devalue the slaves as collateral for loans from England to the Confederacy. When the loans stopped so did the arms and materials shipments even before the Northern Naval Blockade made trade very risky.
Because the Confederate flag is so closely associated with the KKK and southern racism I have no desire to fly it or even have one in my possession as, say, in the form of a keychain. The only flag I fly and feel a loyalty to is the American flag.
The problem is because 1 small idiot group chooses to "steal" the flag ALL others should be chastised and denied their 1st Amendment rights.
Don't forget the American flag was flown when our Country accepted racism slaughtered the Indians.
You people should learn to be less snarky. I've been to Washington a number of times and have never seen a Confederate monument which is why I asked where and what they are and if they were associated with cemetaries as in Gettysburg. But you decided to lecture me instead of answer my question.
Clarify something for me: Are you saying you know my mind better than I do or that I'm a liar?
" I've been to Washington a number of times and have never seen a Confederate monument"
You sound like so many others on here. Because YOU don't know about it, it doesn't exist.
"The Civil War Monuments in Washington, D.C. are a group of eighteen statues which are spread out through much of central and northwest Washington, D.C"
It was a very sad time for our country when divided.. Under each flag they were ALL AMERICANS.
