I know this is a controversial topic, but I am truly interested.
I live in NY, where I would probably get killed for flying the flag. I honestly think it is a beautiful flag, and I love the history behind it. The symbolism, that an abusive government that punishes certain states can be thrown out, and that states have the right to secede.
So do you fly a Battle Flag, either on your vehicle (could be a bumper sticker), your house (inside or outside).
I am more interested in people who actually fly the flag, why do you do it, and where do you live. I have seen a few in PA, OH, and MANY further South, as well as a few as far west as Arizona. (the only place in the upper South where I don't see them is Northern VA, DC, and Maryland).
You dont put it on your car unless you want the chance of having your..
Vehicle vandalized or having threats yelled at you lol
I dont fly one but i have seen a few around here.
It stands out because its not very common.
It's not beautiful - it's a disgrace and is disgusting.
I have to agree. Although the flag's symbol maybe misinterpreted at times, it is still perceived by most as a symbol of derision and I say rightfully so.
Why would I fly the confederate flag, I'm a Yank. Besides, we all know what that flag stands for, the only reason someone would fly it is for controversy.
Even here in conservativeville and a former confederate state, I don't recall ever having seen the flag flown.
Yes, people should be permitted to fly it if they choose, but I would be uncomfortable having anything to do with someone who chose to fly it (even though I am white).
I don't personally fly the flag, but I don't object to others who exercise their right to do so.
I find it very interesting that people hate the Confederacy and the Confederate Flag on the individual level, but have no problem with all the Confederate monuments in and around our nation's Capitol. It seems that your hatred is misplaced. Freedom of speech should be first and foremost - whether you like that speech or not is irrelevant. But to completely ignore monuments in Washington DC that memorialize a cause that you have complete hatred for shows the hypocrisy of your rationale.
