Most people I know (though not all) are pro-life. It is rather interesting for me to see the way the other side feels and, I will admit, it has actually helped me to broaden my view.
Well. If telling people that they are murderers and what not isn't being bossy...

I consider this a very rational discussion. I am really very sincere when I say that those who are against abortion should encourage a return to a chaste life and sex for procreation.

I appreciate any encounter when I can consider another point of view.

That is absolutely true. Add to that the gender gap in the workplace, and I think that the answer to the poll is clear. Men still have more rights and priveleges.

So what am I? Chopped liver? My point about the Lily Ledbetter Act and my own personal experience
don't count because it's really another abortion thread? Got it.

You have a good point there.

Good....well then consider it. Fight for what you believe in - don't change your stance, but also try and see where the other side is coming from.

Haven't you seen the recent poll? 51% of the constituents support abortion being banned now.

You got a little crystal ball, eh? I think we may actually have a chance, though I admit I'm not too proud of our last GOP President.

EDIT - I just saw your post on the fiscal issues thread regarding a more limited federal government and more rights and duties being granted to state governments. I think I've found something we agree on. See...maybe we're not on completely opposite sides after all.

HA! Well, I did offer a disclaimer about Obama. If his current record is any indication, his support of abortion rights could change.... I voted for him solely based on this issue. I was a strong Ron Paul supporter (still am) but when the media ignored him, and he refused to continue his libertarianism into the reproductive rights area, I switched to Obama. I'm still a liberatarian at heart, and I hope to find another one I can support one day.

I do believe in strong state's rights, and I think that's where the abortion debate should be settled. So, we agree! Imagine that!

I love Ron Paul!

Yes...abortion should be a state issue just as almost everything else should be IMO. It would end the national bickering over it and women in the states where it is banned could travel to other states to have abortions anyway.

she's hardly the only one like that. i work with women from india, china, pakistan, and korea every day, and can only think of one who even comes close to fitting your stereotype.

They have equal rights to claim foul, but I think females are taken more seriously.
