Yup, an electric car mandate by the guy who promised that under him electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.

* There is nothing in the OP's linked article by Peter Roff that says jobs will suffer, other than Roff's "fears" that this will happen.
* There is no explanation as to how this will happen.
* He claims that it is wrong to have the EPA and multiple agencies involved.
* He claims that "industry estimates" say 200,000 jobs will be lost. That contention is his entire case re. job loss. No substantiation.
* He says CAFE standards are a muddle-headed policy from the start. (With this innuendo at the end of the article we finally get to the bottom line ).
* Mr. Roff is a Fox contributor.

CAFE standards have always been pointless; more mindless micromanaging by the 'experts' in Washington DC.

Americans have been voting with their wallets for decades about the types of vehicles they wish to buy, and the undisputed fact of the matter is that the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Accord, Camrry, Civic & Corolla have dominated the sales charts for well over fifteen years, and with no gotta kiss up to Al Gore battery powered tree-huggermobiles anywhere in sight!!!!!

how whacked is that, seriously?

i honestly can't believe that anybody is still defending obama's horrible economic policies.

for those who still defend him--are you not all paying more for gasoline, food, and all the things that you need on a daily basis?

your currency has been DEVALUED.

your money has been stolen and the FEDERAL RESERVE refuses to even divulge how much has been stolen, both in the wars AND by those select banksters.

the banksters got mega bonuses by the obama pay czar, for crying out loud.

who had the right to even do that? it is INSANE.

Consumers vote for nothing. They purchase what is offered or go without. What is offered is determined by fallible human beings who try to guess what the customer MAY want.
Some companies are better than others at this. Some even come up with new ideas that customers like.
Sounds like you're more political than sincere.
The OP is about job loss. I read the article, and would still like to know how this will happen.

You cannot compensate for physics.

A heavier vehicle hitting a lighter vehicle will always win, regardless of safety equipment.

Traffic fatalities rise in proportion to fuel standards every time.

obama wants to kill Americans!

You question my numbers and demand a citation for them, then when I provide them, not only do you immediately discount them without any counterproof, but you now claim that you never asked for the cite in the first place. And Dexter Ford's numbers were quite extensive, were NOT part of an OP-ED piece and were published by the New York Times. The same New York Times that fact checks everything that they publish to maintain their reputation for journalistic integrity that's been earned for over 100 years.

Now I'm certain that you're really fun at parties and such (), but frankly Frankie, at this point I have quite some difficulty taking at face value anything that you say.
Don't you know that conservatives can't win on the FACTS.

There are very few conservatives on City-Data or anywhere else that can justify their positions based on facts.

IT'S ALL IDEOLOGY!

Look at Fox News!

Meeting those preposterous standards will undoubtedly result in even more deaths on our highways.

The fact that Automobile News's disclosure that the Detroit 3's gas guzzling pickups are exempt from those asinine standards is yet more proof on how beholden Obama is to unions.

Does it really make sense for Detroit to build cars that Americans will NEVER buy, as they've proven conclusively for over twenty years to everybody except Obama?

Once again, like his "spending cuts" that don't take place until after he is out of office, he makes plans to destroy the economy over the next 20 years. Nothing like passing standards that don't take effect till he is out of office.
