When I grew up we were told that Barry Goldwater wanted to send black people back to Africa. As I grew to be more politically aware and think for my self, I tried to find out what politicians actually said . Barry Gold water once said all good Christians should kick Jerry Falwell in the a$$. He also had an African American Female as his Senate aid at a time when many Republicans would maybe allow an African American female to work as their Domestic. He was also an early conservative supporter of ; Gay Rights, Abortion Rights, The 1957 and 1960 civil rights acts, The NAACP, and Medical Marijuana. Why cant' the Republican Party reinvent it self around Barry Goldwater ?

They are independents now who are likely to vote Dem as often as they vote GOP. I doubt many of them went Libertarian considering Ralph Nadar garnered more votes than Libertarians last November.

Because the GOP is in a catch 22 position. Their fiscal policies are not good for the middle class. Hence they must demonize half of America to scare unsophisticated US voters into voting for the "good guys" and not "those people".

Goldwater is just GOP fiscal policy with the same social libertarianism found in the Democratic Party.

It can't win without bringing on the religious kooks, neocons, authoritarians. (Not that they win now)

You can whine and cry all you like with your survival of the fittest economic policy.

Reality shows us Americans want social programs like Social Security, expansion of universal healthcare, public education, pollution controls, progressive tax rates, etc.

Goldwater Republicans were just law and order, social libertarians who didn't want to shell out tax dollars for "those people"....LOL

Well times have changed.

no, reality shows us that democrat policy does not punish wealth, it prevents it. people are easier to control/maintain when everyone is the same. you left out the word "worthless" before the word americans.

Reality also shows many Americans are unaware of their surroundings and current events.

It sounds like you are scared of taking responsibility for yourself. You are obsessed with Libertarians which means you probably find them a threat.
