Waiting for that PM so you can put your money where your mouth is and help share responsibilities..

When can I expect you to be a man of your word?

You conservatives who are attacking this program are demonstrating not only your mean-spiritedness but also your ignorance of basic economics. Keeping income in the pockets of unemployed workers, and providing new employment opportunities, are two important ways to maintain aggregate demand. This is essential to economic recovery.

Our Cobra payments are going to be $1,800 a month, but thanks to Obama, they will only be $600 a month.

What a terrible thing! He must be a socialist.
Are you saying that with all that stimulus money there wasn't a "shovel-ready" job for your husband?

Will BO be personally the $1,200 you are saving on your health insurance?

I say that is a sound $20,000 investment! We could go on to welfare and get nothing to help him find work and the government would pay much more than $20,000 a year for how how many years? I could sign my kids up for kidcare and the government would have to pay anyway. The $20,000 investment is cheaper in the long run.

Unemployment does just hand over the money. You have to prove that you are unemployable with your current skills. Meet with their counsellors, look through their database of job listings, try to get interviews. If you still cannot find work, then they make you do other things. It took him over 2 months to get approval and you have to go to an approved facility. You can't take the money and decide to take dance lessons with it.

I know long term unemployed people who are now basically unemployable. Where do they sign up?

I wrote about my husband and our situation back in 2009. Back then, companies were doing massive layoffs, not hiring. He is a computer programmer that knows mainframe programming. He worked as a mainframe programmer for 30 plus years. Now out of work, his skills were outdated. Not too many companies use mainframe programs. In order for him to find work in the Tampa area, he had to learn newer skills. Romney asks "are you any better off now than 4 years ago"? In our situation, we are absolutely better off. The job market has opened up. He is finally working. I too found work.

The "shovel-ready" job doesn't really apply in his situation.

My pocket. So instead of remodeling my property, buying a new boat or taking a vacation , the gvmt is spending it instead.
