Like I said, pictures of normal gay people showed. Never said anything about monsters.

By high school, it's WAY too late. By that time, boys have already been making fun of gays for many years. There's nothing wrong with teaching kids that gays exist, and that they deserve respect just like everyone else. Teaching them nothing isn't the solution.

I remember as a child that I was taught neither to be gay nor straight. My education was impartial regarding sexuality, as it should be.
And I bet you're a heterosexual. How fortunate for you, and how unfortunate for those you went to school with and turned out gay.

Well use your brain. Of course, if you search for "gay", you're going to find some outlandish stuff because being gay is different, and there are tons of people on the internet who enjoy harassing and making fun of gays, just like you.

Oh noes. I was made fun of since I have Jewish and Polish heritage. Those Jr highschool years are a b.itch.

So, teach them on your time. I don't see the problem with taking an impartial stance and teaching our kids math, science, English, art, history, computers, etc.

Please. I was a skinny kid with nasal problems and very bad acne. I survived those turbulent teenage age and didn't mandate a class on how to be kind to skinny kids with acne and nasal problems.

I try to find common ground by being open to teaching an elective class on sexuality for upper classmen, and I get shot down because we need to teach our children about sexuality at a younger age. Sorry, but I don't buy into your argument and don't appreciate your incalcitrant attitude.

I'm not harassing anyone. Its been a long day and my sarcasm is a bit more pointed than usual. I would normally apologize, but I have not been serious about any of this and just don't care if people can't understand what should be obvious, just playing along with people jumping to conclusions like you did very early in this thread with me by suggesting I think gays are monsters.

Sex ed has been common in high school for decades. It's not a compromise by any means.

No one's saying kids should be taught the mechanics of sexual behavior, but there are many of us who think it should be okay to say the word "gay" to an elementary school student. Why are you so afraid of the word "gay"?

If you don't appreciate my attitude, then I guess you can ignore me. I am who I am. I don't appreciate some of your attitudes, but I deal with you anyway.

I only assumed that because after I used the word "monster", your response was a picture of two unusual-looking guys, as if it was proof that gays are monsters.

It's okay, though. I know what you're saying, and I fluctuate from serious to sarcastic on this forum too. No worries.

Yes, I know but you want to start teaching them at a much earlier age.

In what sort of context?

I am not, so will you stop creating a strawman.

I won't ignore you, but I will defend my opinion. I think education should focus on math, science, art, history, computers, English, etc. I think sexual education should be delayed until at least the Jr. High level, but I can understand some communities that need to teach sexual education at an earlier level. But by no means do I advocate teaching homosexuality to first-sixth graders.

It is unfortunate that you have to deal with my attitude. I am open and supportive of gays and even gay adoptions, but I don't think sexuality should be taught at an elementary level.

You are the one that is intolerant and claiming that I am "afraid of gays" since I think that education should focus on math, science, art, history, computers, English, etc, while teaching sexuality should wait until the Jr High School level.

You are recalcitrant and resort to ad hominem attacks and strawmen arguments when you don't get your way.

The way I see it, all qualifications of the job are there.
After that, nothing else matters, does it?

Ah, all the jobs aren't going to white dudes, so the racist sexist segment of the population will be angry about the selection.

Is this an accurate summary?
