Google has yet to acknowledge Memorial Day with specialized art as it has for other major holidays and many minor ocassions like Giovanni Schiaparelli's Birthday, the Persian New Year, and the Anniversary of the Lunar Landing among others. Though they've managed to honor Australia, the UK, and Canada on their corresponding "Memorial Days" and a stink has been raised in previous years, Google has yet to acknowledge our vet's on Memorial Day. Do you think it will happen again this year?

I personally think it would be pathetic if they failed to acknowledge memorial day but they are a private company who are free to decide which art goes up on their site. We as consummers are free to decide whether to use Google or switch to another search engine if this offends us or we can write to them and complain.

Very good point---will have to agree on the private company argument.

Yahoo

Ask

DogPile

Is there a "major" search engine missing?? I actually use Yahoo for search more than the other guy.. It probably takes less than 15 minutes to alter the settings for the search engines for a given holiday...

the google gang is famously left-leaning; 15 minutes to change their appearance for something as minor as memorial day is clearly too much to expect.

That is strange. And very disappointing.

They'd better do something this year.

There's a little yellow ribbon on the main page.

Subdued....

still disrespectful IMO.
