Marriage has a lineage more ancient than any divine revelation, and before any system of law existed, kinship crushed our ancestors with complex and pitiless rules about incest, family, tribe, and totem. Gay marriage, which can be created by any passel of state supreme court justices with degrees from middling law schools, lacking the authority and majesty of the kinship system, will be a letdown.

Hey, I'm not stating the constitution isn't ****ed, I'm just stating how it is

I'm also referring to the supreme court decision, and not the actual vote. Two toootally seperate parts of the process.

Same here. I'm concerned about my friends on the West coast. I was glad the see the 18,000 same sex marriages that took place prior to Prop 8, are being acknowledged by the state of California.

the law is left wide open to be challenged AGAIN... allowing same sex marriages to exist.. but cut them off from every happening again is a new issue the court created, and it will be challenged..
basically sally and susie will want to get married, and when john and jim down the street technically are.. they can challenge it further....
Its not over... because equality is when it's over...

So if you couldn't marry the person you love, you'd just silently accept it?

Just hear this on ABC radio in San Diego.
First of all, I don't think gays would even be allowed to marry in the church because of the anti-gay stuff in the Christian bible.
I think gays should be allowed to have unions, where they have the same rights as heterosexual marriages.
This either needs to be put aside, or dealt with quickly, because I am so sick and tired of hearing about it.

Wow, the people have spoken and the court respected it.
