The thread author is attempting to argue that this is some sort of event particular to Obama, when in fact it is a very common fundraising gimmick. The Bush example simply serves to the purpose of pointing that out, and the hypocrisy of the thread itself. Everyone knows (or anyone with half a brain) attendees to these events aren't giving $25,000 for a keepsake photograph.
This is where it was discussed, the article is pretty much about what his children will and will not get. The round table on the related show that week was where most of the concerns about his children's inheritance were made.
To me, I don't think it's trivial to meet & get a picture taken w/the president. I certainly think it's over the top expensive however I would love to get my picture taken w/him.
Meh, people should be able to spend their money on whatever they wish. If this person thinks his picture taken with Obama is worth 30 grand, it is - to him.
But it's TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
