It is still just garbage on the Internet... that stinks!
The real crap during the Vietnam era came from the White House & Congress, from both the Left and the Right

Since most of you have forgotten what 9/12 was like, it appears it will take a large mushroom cloud rising over a U.S. City to get the point though your head, which appears to be closer to happening now than later...
We were attacked on 9/11, THAT is also a FACT.
Was it 9/12 when he promised those responsible would hear from us, and then attacked Iraq instead?
John Kerry was never spit on. You need to withdraw your statement and admit you don't have any evidence otherwise.
Are you for real? Seriously? Do you think every soldiers trip home from fighting overseas is recorded and documented and posted on the internet?
In all honestly, what did you do prior to the inception of the internet? If a statement of fact was presented and it was not listed in a book or periodical was it cast off as simply not true or it never happened?

I'm saying it's an urban myth. Of course there could have been a handful of incidents considering the ten of thousands who served. But it was less than uncommon. It wasn't even a blip on the radar.
Just used to smear liberals and war protestors....That's why this legend is useful for the right wing these days.

If it wasn't documented in a book or periodical, it was unknown. People were required to access master's theses and doctoral dissertations in order to buttress books and periodicals, plus library archives to find critical information for their own research. They also interviewed people who might have direct knowledge relevant to their topic. The author of the book that
padcrasher cites actually interviewed Vietnam veterans for his book; had such mistreatment been as profound as is believed, they had the perfect opportunity to recount it. Plus, they could have directed the author to other vets that they knew had had such experiences. Neither happened.
