Well, Nomander, integrity, hard work and taking full responsibility for oneself and family are just no longer values for many here. Putting a value on these will only engeander hostility to those who have shunned them and view themselves as better than. And entitled...to your money. Socialism, the buzzword of the day. Spread that wealth around, tax those suckers who have made a successful life for themselves! Take from the rich, give to the poor. Robin Hoodism, sounds great doesn't it? Ahhhh, empathy. Til the reality hits....that our government has sold us out and down river to drown in a financial debt tsunami we may never climb out from under. We all worked hard for what we have, and many of us have accomplished a lot of material success... this is not about Robin Hood - it's about being fair to all.

Regardless how I feel about your comments regarding Oklahoma, and our disagreements on just about everything political, I'd like to thank you for the link to that video. It was very sad and points out the dire need for improved medical conditions in this country.
The 'faction' that you warn about is an elite, over-priviledged upper-class that uses the working class as a vehicle to profits - and nothing more.
Note the heated 'passion' that follows when you suggest that the rich pay 1% more in income taxes, or that the severe inequality in income distribution be lessened, or that the safety-net of limited entitlements be strengthened, or capital gains tax be increased by a fraction... THEN you hear quite angry, passionate diatribe and threats... from the rich and powerful...

You are using the government as a bully to push your individual will on the minority for the only reason as that they may make more money. Your disregard for the founders warnings is not anything new or special, it was discussed that the masses would allow corruption to achieve its foothold. It will be you who is surprised when your selfish interest backfires eventually.

It's a pity that America didn't create a UHC after WW2 it would have recieved no objections as Americans had fought selflessly in Europe and all of America were pulling together. Corporate greed hadn't spread through America like the cancer it is and people genuinely wanted to be a community.
I speak to many Americans both in Houston where i have my home and Florida where my wife's family are. I am inspired by the overwhelming desire to create a better America and the yearning for a fair healthcare sytem for every American Citizen. To those who begrudge their fellow Americans good health care and Schooling i can only say that if the Native Americans had your attitude when your ancestors came to America you wouldn't be here now. Instead they gave freely only to be savaged, lied to and beaten to the core. America was built on immigration and everyone contributing and helping their neighbours in times of trouble. Today in America it's dog eat dog and a kind of foolish pride to have more than your fellow American. The huge gap now between the have and have nots is getting bigger. I'm lucky that i'm a have person. I have done well, have homes in the UK and the USA and am extremely comfortable. I do not mind paying extra tax if it is for the well being of every American. Too many people on here are petrefied that they might have to pay a few dollars out of their salary to give America a great health service. To those people i can only say that you are all that is bad in America and a prime example of why America is in the mess it is in right now. Greed is destructive and everyone can see that selfish greed is the real reason America is in so much debt..the take take take attitude. Give yourselves a pat on the back as you watch fellow Americans suffer everyday through lack of decent healthcare. You can stick your head in the sand but you forget that your butttt is sticking out and is about to be blown off by the new America of free thinking sensible altruistic Americans.
I didn't miss it. I lost a bet, though. My girlfriend said you'd cite the Federalist Papers again, in an argument on healthcare. I said, "No way. He wouldn't..."
It's NOT your money if the government sees fit to tax it... sorry - but that's the way it goes...
And if you are currently on Social Security, and you retired over 10 years ago - you are effectively on welfare - you paid far less into the system than you are taking out... Care to redress that inequality???? I think not...
