I'm sure the US Gov would do an outstanding job managing the healthcare of 306 million people. They do such a bang-up job with everything else.

Well, let me put it this way: the income level for people to be eligible for Medicaid is so ridiculous that most people (at least those who live in places with high cost of living) are not eligible for it. Further they are not able to afford private health insurance either, too expensive. Often those same unfortunate people don't have jobs with health benefits. What are we supposed to do for them? Let them die? Here is an example:
Medicaid

Now tell me how is a family of 4 supposed to survive on less than $15K a year? Oh wait, if you read lower here it extended benefits to those who make up to a little over $22K (family of 4), wow, so someone making $25K a year go on and get your own insurance.
My reply to this? Don't have a family of 4 if you expect to make a mere $22K. Get your own ass covered before marrying and having children. Why is that so hard to understand? Too many people act first and then let the government cover the fine details. This exactly the entitlement attitude that is ruining our country financially.

You totally missed the point. That was an example. Did you see the limit for a family of 1? Less than $9k!!! Who makes less than that?! I think even people of minimum wage make more than that a year.

I personally think that the government is for national defense. I think all eduaction should be private. our public school system sucks. I think social security is ok. I don't like being forced to contribute, but I realize that if you could opt out, everyone would, then they would cry when they didn't save money. I wish they had a fair tax system, be it a flat tax or a national sales tax. I also think the federal government should get a huge audit. things like charlie rangel having a $1000 per month leased cadillac at the expense of the tax payers is absurd. term limits are crucial for the success of this country. I honestly believe that the federal government should be shrunk by at least 75%. the problem is, then you have a bunch of unemployed and unskilled people, so it will never happen. we dug ourselves into a hole that we can't dig out of. for small government fans like myself, it's a nightmare.

Let's try my experience. Since I single-handedly subdued an attacker, no one is afforded police protection/response. I like it! Since I own fire extinguishers and a garden hose, all fire departments are now closed. I like it, I like it!!!
That's an excellent idea! And also, since most of us now have water purifier pitchers at home, who needs the water department? We can clean our own water, yahoo!

I know I want DMV employees in charge of health care.

How did I miss the point? You used the Medicaid income thresholds to demonstrate that a person/family must be very poor to qualify. My response? Get your own ass in gear before you marry and have kids. It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

As far as the $9K goes? Sounds to me like that was put in place to keep those that are inclined to sit on their ass from mooching off the government. It's called motivation. Agree?

Mail delivery is not a life or death situation.

So, if a riot breaks out in your neighborhood, you'd be fine going through the paperwork and payments before a private company responds?

If a terrorist camps out on your neighbor's lawn, you'd be fine with that?

What a field day for criminals! Simply target those who have no "policecare insurance" coverage, and take whatever we want. Yippie!
