This is just another example of why one should NEVER buy a home where they are forced to join a home owners association. You sign away your personal rights to a bunch of people that have nothing better to do than butt into other peoples lives. A home owners association can not only have your vehicle towed they can take your home away. A friend of mine became so fed up with his that he and some other community members ran at the next election for the association and got rid of the bunch of retires that were making everyones life hell with their own brand of rules. Best way to avoid the problem is to never join one.

What a ridiculous thing for an HOA to get upset about - and, in reading the article, I see that it is just one member of the HOA who took this upon himself. That is likely against the HOA's rules, as well.
I'm sure this man will win over the HOA in the end. I just hope he doesn't have to fight too hard. He seems to have support from his neighbors, and that's going to help.
