seriously doubt he did anything precedent-setting. Look at all of Bush's trips to Crawford, TX, Reagan's to CA, etc. Most presidents have some sort of "alternate" White House they retreat to, e.g. Nixon's "Western White House" in California. If he was spending his own money on the "date", why do you guys care so much?
Yeah..Clinton was out of the White House alot--spent it mostly at Motel 6, with hooker of the week.
What ever he was doing there it definitely helped the country. When he left office the federal budget was showing a $127-billion surplus!
Yeah, when you slash defense spending to 1970 levels, you are going to have a surplus. Ditto on intelligence spending (budget slashed 70%) We had a surplus, and it only cost us 9-11..

All the intelligence spending in the world wouldn't have changed the fact that we had a President who blew off warning memos while he was on his own personal "date night" clearing brush in Crawford.
Bush and his administration ignoring the warning signs of the attack 'cost us' 9/11. Had he heeded the warning signs, he could have used the surplus to defend us against the terrorists.

Gosh, did Clinton get any of these warning signs?
