Go back to school and learn the difference between a government loan (which I oppose) and the government buying up a company. When you become educated, then you can come back and discuss the issue intelligently..

Default Obama: 'End of an old GM and the beginning of a new one.'

I hope the new one isn't going to build cars designed by their accountants and debugged by their customers.

Yes you are correct, Bush started it. Frankly I don't give a damn if it was a Republican or Democrat. The fact is that Obama is accelerating the Bush policies. You don't have a problem with the government running private business like they did in the USSR?

In Soviet America, car builds you!

Thank GOD for a great President to care about American jobs!!

Dont forget, 6 months ago, under the idiot frat boy Bush, the Republican Party emphatically stated: DECLARE BANKRUPTCY

Under Republicans, these jobs would have disappeared and/or gone to China/Mexico.

Again, thank the LORD in Heaven we have Barack Obama at the helm and not John McCain or the last Prez., this one doesn't want to oversee failure like the past President!

You're perpetuating a very dated myth.

While they were caught off guard in the 80s and perhaps early 90s because they'd never been challenged, American cars, by and large, are on par or beyond the quality of foreign cars today. Just look at the awards if you do not believe me.

Hopefully, this government intervention that GM requested will be short-lived only until it gets back on its feet. No dictator. Just a reality that had been growing for a long time before Obama.

Cantor Statement on General Motors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement after General Motors filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as part of a plan that gives the majority ownership of the company to the federal government:

“While it is a sad day when an American icon like General Motors declares bankruptcy, I am concerned that thousands of hard working Americans who chose to invest their savings in the company had their rights trampled by this agreement. These working families and retirees had their voices silenced and their savings erased.

“The nature of this bankruptcy agreement raises serious questions about the ultimate cost to millions of Americans. While the government has now subsidized GM to the tune of $50 billion, the Administration has not demonstrated the ability to account for this enormous taxpayer expenditure. That must change - taxpayers deserve far better oversight and accountability.

“In order to make the tough choices required in bankruptcy, the Administration must explain how taxpayer money is being spent, ensure proper oversight, and demonstrate the ability to turn off the taxpayer spigot once and for all.”

Thanks libs for allowing America to become like Russia!
Thanks conservatives for leaving America broke and chock full of flag draped coffins from the Middle East.

Maybe you have missed the news.
GM today filed bankruptcy, EXACTLY what Republicans called for 6 months ago. Nothing has changed except the ownership and the $50BILLION in taxpayer money GONE.

GM and Chrysler has closed down thousands upon thousands of retail outelets, costing an estimated 150,000 jobs.

And taking over a car company by spending $50 BILLION is a FAILURE, and the bankruptcy filing today is confirmation that Republicans were right 6 months ago and it confirms that Obams plan for Gm = FAILURE!!

yes, bankruptcy = failure.. its a safety net for failed businesses, and now Obama, as boss to the CEO of GM, FAILED!!

It's perfectly fine. The old system is BROKEN, have you not been paying attention?

The country is barely recognizable due to mismanagement from PRESIDENT'S like the former one, who left President Obama an INCREDIBLE mess

You must not be talking about the approximate 20,000 more jobs that will be lost with this action ?
