The Republicans have been showing a schizoid face to the puclic lately; Cheney goes out bashing Obama, saying that he and Bush "kept us safe", yeah, except for the biggest attack on America in 60 years, and "reasonable Rs wish he would shut up and go away. Newt waddles around, spreading the "racist, bigot" lie about Sotomayor and Senate Rs (who will actually get to vote on her quickly distance themselves from the fringe.

Now comes more s**t sandwiches for the buffet. Today a group of "conservative leaders" (why anyone would follow this bunch, other than curiousity is beyond me), inclusing Grover Norquist and Gary Bauer (what, no Randall Terry?) delivering up an ultamatum to the Senate Rs that they want Sotomayor's appointment to be filibustered.

Do they not understand the meaning of the phrase fat-freaking-chance? One of the best/worst things about this group is their purported "leader", Manuel Miranda, former aide to Bill Frist, who resigned amid some ethics charges regarding accessing the emails and memos of some Democratic lawmakers and staffers. I guess having him and the ethically challenged Gary Bauer, Indian casinos/etc on the same board makes it look "mainstream" to the R Senators.

I'm betting that Orrin Hatch has his staff say "sorry, he's out" when this bunch shows up.

I will enjoy this. Thanks for the invite. The Republican Party has sold its soul to the corporatists and the former dixecrats. Neither is very popular because most American voters have seen through the fog of propaganda to the Republican speculators that have robbed them of their houses and investments.

I looked up "hypocrisy" in my dictionary and there was Miranda's picture. Today he's all about "Republicans have to filibuster Sotomayor", but he spent most of 2005 insisting that Republicans had to force through rule changes to prevent the filibustering of judicial nominees.

I'm not sure if Frist just got tired of having another nut-job on his staff, or if he had to fire him when he was implicated in hacking into the email accounts of Democratic staffers, but anyway this is what you do when you get fired for dishonesty in the Republican party.

And, just like Sandra Bullock saying; "and the children" in the movies "Miss Congeniality", this dirt-bag had to trot out the (made from the whole cloth of "unnamed staffers to unnamed Justices") line about, "she's got a bad temper".

With azz-wipes like these stepping up for the Republicans, I see a 63-37 split coming.

Oh, and before I get called on it by any righty who reads this (unlikely), the title should say "intra-party".
