Now this is the type of attitude that usually becomes evident in such discussions too. Usually it's "Oh, all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ" and you're in. But as the story unfolds, different Christian sects go for one another's throat. I can NOT understand this. Each one believes itself to be 100% right...which by default makes everyone *else* 100% wrong.

I'm not trying to pick on you in particular, Marks. But it is never as easy as "oh, just read the Bible". Things end up getting picked apart. Here you cite the "historic" Christian faith. It's pretty much guaranteed that one sect will counter with "We don't care about history...history is written by man...we take the word of God literally," "Nowhere in the Bible does it say X-Y-Z," "It may say X-Y-Z in the old testament but as Christians we've pretty much dropped that," "WHAT? You've DROPPED THAT? Then you'll burn in the flames..." and on, and on, and on.

The judgement and the accusations and the threats (usually of ending up burning) are shocking to me from anyone professing that Christianity is all about love.

Please note that this does not include all Christians. Many here have stated that they themselves disapprove of the extreme judgment some profess (and in fact disapprove of basically all kinds of judgement, religious or not). But it happens often enough that it pretty much begs a defensive response from non-Christians...or even from Christians that don't happen to be the exact denomination of whatever poster is making the judgement.

This all makes me very, very leery of Christianity. I don't find faith, hope and a oneness with my creator in it. I find scary judgements and threats and accusations of exactly what I and everyone else on the planet EXCEPT the specific denomination in question, at any given moment, are doing wrong.

As a non-Christian I don't WANT to have these opinions of Christians. If Christians would give me four seconds in a row to breathe between screams and threats, my opinions might actually have the chance to climb. But it's like it is a losing battle.

Oh hon, I wasn't inferring there was anything wrong with them at all.

...but it just wouldn't be me if I didn't toss in a polygamy joke, c'mon

Skinny ties and bikes? lol, the guy I knew used to work for a paper company cutting down trees. I can't say I picture him dressin up like that, lol.

Anyway, have a great night, this time, swear, going to bed.

In fact, I think I'll make tomorrow a "non-cd" day. I've been on here more than the staff the last few days.

ciao!
