After the Vietnam war the prevailing wisdom at the top was that we lost due to journalism.

This caused news corporations to sell journalism out in favor of coverage, which can be seen pretty heavily by CNN's rise during the Gulf War. Journalism is, unfortunately, a rarity nowadays. This is especially true in American media outlets.

I think it is entertaining when the left state media watchers become so threatened by an opposing opinion like Fox. We have had a socialist montra shoved down our throats for decades and the lemings just lock step in line for more. You would think that the enlightened thinkers or the self professed academics would be able to think outside the box and question a mass media movement that tells them how to vote and for whom to vote for.
