They were always polite when they came to call--even if I was too busy to invite them in for coffee and a chat!

Awake! is really a pretty good publication. It has articles about healthy living that are written in language that a person of very modest reading skills can understand. One time, I picked one up and it had an article about dietary fat, and why it's bad to have too much.

Also, they do not believe in Hell.
My Mom is a JW and she rocks!!
The only religion I know that is truly united. When I was a kid we would have ppl we did know from all over the world stay over our place. The religions headquarter (Bethel) is located in Bklyn, NY.
Good folks, but again not even my mom could convince me.

Hmmm. You may be right, at that.
Yup I read about it, and many others. It's a scary thing. You should go to a Scientology center and watch the introduction video they play you. It starts out normal then starts getting freaky, the weirdest part at the end is when they say something like this:
"Sure, you could walk out of here today and never return to the Scientology center, but you could also just walk outside and blow your brains out. Scientology has so much to offer, and it would be a waste to turn your back on it."
That isn't word for word, just how I remember. I think the real thing actually sounded even weirder. It was a scary place. The "church" in my town looks more like a school inside of it with lots of class rooms to teach their crazy stuff. They have like a TON of every book he has written EVERYWHERE. It was scary...
I have to say, I'm finding the poll fascinating so far (and this is only the first day)! Especially since at this point the most "mainstream" categories (Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, Jewish) are not currently in the lead, percentagewise, having 32.44% compared to all the others specifically listed (43.24%).
That 43.24% does not include the "Other, Not Listed" category which has 18.92%.
So at this moment the "non-mainstream" belief systems seem to be in the majority, by a margin ranging from slight (about 10%) to considerable (30%, if you include the Other, Not Listed votes in that group as well).
I'm surprised to see how many Baptists there are... not that it's bad or good, just interesting. Also funny that I'm the only Jew, but I guess it's in line with US demographics so far. (haven't done the math, so correct me if I'm wrong!)
I am from jewish, german and austrian descent... not in religion but I have ancestors who are...but I do not follow the religion, I was raised a christian but now the whole matter is just up in the air so to speak. I am not even sure what you would call me, there is no name for it, that I know of.
Just for the record, Jewish is a religion, Austrian and German are nationalities. Jews can come from Germany, Austria or Latvia; anywhere.
So I come away from your post confused!
