I noticed through the years that a change has taken place with American feminism. The feminist left no longer criticizes the way the Muslim world treats women. For example, in Obama's Cairo speech he mentioned that he supports women wearing the hijab. No feminists (that I know of) criticized Obama for being pro-hijab. The old style feminists that I used to respect would consider the hijab symbolic of male dominance and would fight to make sure women don't wear it in the U.S. Now it seems feminists LIKE the hijab because it covers up women and makes them non-sexual beings. Who would have ever thought..feminists and radical Islam on the same team, what strange bedfellows.

Ah, quaint assumption. No, I'm not in favor of women being covered up. In their country of origin, I DO believe they are considered dirt & subservient to men, I don't agree w/it at all. I believe it's just a bit different doing it in this country, where women are supposed to be considered equals. It's called freedom of religion, meaning these women, if they choose to for religious purposes, should be allowed to wear it. I wouldn't do it, that's for sure, but I think it's different here than over there.

Lets keep in mind that in the good old U.S.A. there are women still alive who remember that they were not able to vote in their younger days.

There can't be that many. Any eligible women who were denied the right to vote would be about 110 years old today.
