Since 1933, Congress has been spending IOUs. The question you might be forming is: How can they get away with it?
The answer: YOU allow it.
More accurately, you pledged yourself as collateral on their debt - via FICA aka Social Security Act of 1935.
You're a "human resource", whose value, as a voluntary slave, underwrites their "check kiting" scheme.

Didn't they tell you that there is NO LAW compelling one to enroll, nor is there any law that punishes an American who does not volunteer.

Don't believe me - write a polite letter to your congresscritter, and ask for a copy of the constitutional law that requires ALL AMERICANS to enroll into Social Security before they can work in their own country.

Better yet, write to the administrator's office located in Baltimore, MD. They send a nice form letter stating that the sole reason to enroll is to participate in the entitlement program.

One more thing - when you ask for the official procedure to leave Social Security, they stand mute.

(Strains of "Hotel California" waft in the background. You can always check in, but you can never leave...)

Welcome to the United Socialist States of America!
Do you ever get tired of posting this? Why don't you just write a book and stop infecting threads with this irrelevant nonsense.

Apparently, it's beyond them as well.

The person perhaps didn't explain that health providers have to retain records of patient treatments, should they be requested to provide the records to anyone in the future.

I am quite certain that if you asked to have a copy of the specific records forwarded to the requesting practitioner, your request would be granted.

Best wishes on your current situation.
I work in a physician's office and we get many requests for transfer of medical records. Sometimes the pt. wants the records sent to them, and sometimes to the new dr. They do have to sign a form either way.

It is not uncommon to fax x-ray reports, lab reports, and other medical information dr. to dr.

He falls asleep all the time unless he is or was at work. The minute he starts to read a newspaper or sits down and want to watch tv he fells asleep. Now he is much older and even falls asleep at the dinner table. He had a tumor the size of a tennis ball in his stomach and many other issues, many things were caused by stress (he is a holocaust survivor and was almost 5 years in hiding which took his toll).

2 Years ago when I was over there hecould hardly walk and the pain was so severe we called the doctor, who didn't do anything, than we called the hospital who told us to bring him over there, which we did. The made 1 X-Ray and send him home with the message...you have to live with this...Now last week his pain was again so severe he couldn't walk and it happened in the bathroom....no doctor would come or do anything. He has an appointment in 2 weeks that was the first time available....

As I have described before. My mother in law came over here and should never been allowed to come here. Her blood pressure was 250/150 when she came over here in the hospital andto keep it short, within 24 hours we knew what was wrong with her and got it all on paper and they released all MRI's, Scan's, X-Rays, to us....In The Netherlands after 20 years they had not figured out was was wrong with her. I had been with her to the doctor and he stated "she is old she has to live with it"...over here they stated, her small brain was working anymore, pancreas was inflamated, her heart was enlarged, longs were leaking, high blood pressure (her physician in The Netherlands stated later that it wasn't so high for an old lady!), etc...
When she was brought back to Europe she was put on a diet of all fastfood to have her gain weight which resulted of her dying within 2 weeks due to her pancreas not being able to coop with the grease...over here she was in a hospice and started to do a little better and on a fat free diet!

Do you know why so many people get babies in Europe without any medication and less surgeries...it saves money! We know it, our first was born with no medication for the mom the second was born after 8 hours of trying all kinds of stuff and than surgery...the apgar score was a 1 after surgery....luckily soon it went up to a 9 but the risks are much higher but if it saves money that is fine...you aren't able to sue so who cares...JUST the family!
I'm sorry your father is suffering and I'm sorry your mother died. I don't really think it is the diff. between the US and the Netherlands as between different philosophies of the treating doctors. All you described in Europe could also happen in the US.

So, let's see. Obama has been totally wrong in his estimates and assessments with his budget and the stimulus, he has completely usurped bankruptcy practices dealing with creditors, he has annexed to private businesses for the benefit of the unions and more intrusion by the Feds, he has been completely wrong with his unemployment assessment...

Why should we believe his numbers at all? Why should we believe he has a clue in what he has proposed? Nothing he has done so far would give us confidence to believe him at all.

But the bigger point. We see how corruption, waste, incompetence and mismanagement permeates other systems run by the government - why should we believe they could run a UHC system efficiently and effectively?

Because he says so and that should be enough. He can get his staff to give some projections to look good..just like all those jobs created by the stimulus money. If the chart looks good then the program is working.

The difference over here is that we could have sued the doctors for neglect, so the doctors figured out over here within 24 hours what was wrong with her and in The Netherlands they didn't even want to use the American MRI's, Scan's, etc.. and they didn't even make any (too costly!), but she died 2 weeks later and we were asked for an autopsy because they were so surprised she died so suddenly....we were outraged, but what could we do....
No doctor over here would have done the same and risk a law suit...over there they don't have to be afraid..it is al run by the government and even a lawsuit can hardly be won, and if won a doctor can get a bad report..that is basically it!

So there is a huge difference! But you probable want to figure it out when it is too late...maybe one day you will realize that what I said is the truth...

uhhh...... if you have been paying attention, no we cannot afford ANY of that stuff we are so deeply in debt our government is starting to resemble the type of family that got us into this big economic mess IE the family that earns 30,000 per year, yet owns a 7500 sqft home, two hummers and plays at the country club on the dime of a credit card. WE ARE BROKE, WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS!

Out of sheer ignorance.

I work with a gal who's husband has an HMO. Their doctors are chosen for them and she is none too happy about it either.

That's private sector, for profit, medicine.
