I'm guessing we'll have to go to the UN and ask for timeouts during battle to read folks their "rights" even though they aren't US citizens. Insanity has taken over our government.
Shouldn't you be saying that we should wait until we know the whole story? After all, we don't know any details yet. One Republican legislator has seen the Miranda rights being administered to a detainee. He surmised that this was part of a bigger initiative. There are no comments from administration officials. Shouldn't we wait until more information becomes available before castigating anyone?
And just why should we wait on those pesky things like details and facts that may stand in the way of some glorious pontification among reactionaries?
"The Weekly Standard" was perhaps the most vocal supporter of the disaster known as the invasion of Iraq. It is run by a right wing ideologue and read by Kool Aid drinkers.
Didn't we already try the "law enforcement" route when Bubba was in office? Didn't it fail miserably, leading directly to 9/11? While we were treating UBL and his group like common criminals, they were attacking throughout the 90's, which led to the planning and implementation of 9/11.
Attacking the source is a well-known tactic used by people who have nothing
substantive to say about the topic at hand.
Now go to the blackboard and write 500 times "Faux News Kicks Ms. NBC's butt bloody 24/7"....
Pointing out that the source is an opin piece rather than a news source is no different than when someone points out that Jon Stewart's show is entertainment, not news. It's not an attack to clarify that commentary on the news is by its very nature biased, and identifying that bias does help people evaluate the credibility and quality of their source.
The source is a congressman just back from Afghanistan. The WS reported it.
How pathetically lame.
The source was an opin piece. The legislator's observations led him to make several allegations. The opin piece, as editorial content, did not "report" the news, it essentially tried to create the news.
