Moderator cut: name-callingcoors stopped this practice many years ago due to drunk employees getting into wrecks and being sued. thus coors being sued. giving free beer is just plain stupid

If they were handing out the beer at the door of the plant, I could see it but from what I understand they simply mail certificates for the beer and it is given out by a store that sells the beer and thus should already be covered by dram shop insurance. If I go to Wal*Mart and buy a $50 Visa gift card and give it to somebody for their 21st birthday and they use it to buy 2 cases of beer and get drunk and cause an accident, I would like to see somebody try to sue me for it. Or Wal*Mart. They can sue the drunk that hit them and *maybe* the store that sold them the beer- and that is a big maybe.
And if that was an issue, they could simply substitute a cheque for the wholesale cost of the beer in lieu of the certificate.
Lastly, the company itself did not even say this was why they were doing it.
