I might also remind you that our last President guessed wrong big time on Iraq and we ended up in a war we are still not rid of and it still costing us dearly in lives and money. So, next time you want to whine about this administration making a minor error such as the unemployement figures remember what your guy did with his guesses, the current ones pale in comparison.

You sneaked your blame it all on Bush in on some here but not on me. I was ready for you so you didn't disappoint me today. Thanks a lot for bearing my thinking out.

Sorry but the economy NO WHERE was tanking since 9/11/01, if you think it has thats a personal choice YOU made. Yes, we were in a recession due the 9/11, but we recovered from that recession and then went into another one.

Actually long before Bush. Make sure you catch the date on the article.

Assault on the mortgage lenders: Assault on the mortgage lenders: in the name of racial justice, the Clintonites want the power to decide who gets a home of his own - efforts to impose regulations on banks to make loans even if applicants are not creditworthy

National Review , Dec 27, 1993 by Robert Stowe England

Quote:
QUIETLY, behind the scenes, the Clinton Administration is preparing for the biggest regulatory crackdown of recent years. Attorney General Janet Reno is linking up with banking regulators and with HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros to end the supposed epidemic of discrimination against minorities in making home loans. The implications for society at large are ominous. (Well gee, you figure?)

Here, as in affirmative-action efforts in hiring, college admissions, and the drawing of voting districts, the Washington establishment is obsessed with "disparate impact," which it equates with racism. In the mortgage-lending area, there is ample evidence of disparate impact to feed this obsession. Data collected by the Federal Government reveal that in 1992, while 16 per cent of white applicants for mortgage loans were rejected, 36 per cent of black applicants were rejected.

snip
So did black people cause this mess? Of course they didn't the mess came out of the lowering of standards in order to have more people qualify for home loans.

The bankers didn't do this on their own, they were facing huge federal enforcement actions (like expensive law suites) if they didn't get their loan numbers up for minorities.

Washington meddling in things they don't have a clue about.

FDR's policies prolonged Depression by 7 years, UCLA economists calculate

By Meg Sullivan
8/10/2004 12:23:12 PM

Two UCLA economists say they have figured out why the Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, and they blame a suspect previously thought to be beyond reproach: President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

After scrutinizing Roosevelt's record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years.

"Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery, and because we never really knew the reason, we have always worried whether we would have another 10- to 15-year economic slump," said Ohanian, vice chair of UCLA's Department of Economics. "We found that a relapse isn't likely unless lawmakers gum up a recovery with ill-conceived stimulus policies."

snip

We're in for a bad 15 years.

They should have just let it be.

FDR didn't have the time (or the technology) to examine the depression 70+ years later.

As soon as you get your time machine working, take the researchers back to tell him. While your at it, find the holy grail and bet on the Yankees to win.

Oh, gimme a break on this personal choice s***! Did I say I was unemployed? No, and I'm not. Did I say my spouse was unemployed? No, and he is not. He was lucky enough to get his present job in July of 2001, right before the recession, which Colorado never really recovered from. We supposedly officially entered this recession in October, 2008. I know a number of people who have been unemployed for the better part of a year now. Who was president last June? Hint: Not Obama.

ETA: What do you mean about personal choice re: unemployment? Do you think I'd up and quit my job and then complain that I couldn't find another one? I know better than that.

ETA #2: It's someone's "personal choice" to be unemployed? Do people "choose" to get laid off? People can and do lose their jobs in good economies and bad.

U kidding? This is exactly what they elected him for. Whatever it takes. "F* the Republicans", REmanuel. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Crash the system, implement socialist remedy, establish quasi gestapo, the constitution surrenders, George Soros replaces Dick Cheny as back door Commander in Chief.

Don't wait for the movie.
