Reap what we sow, I guess.
It's funny, though, how many people think the media manipulated us to see Palin as incompetent. It didn't take any media for me to hear her speak using her own words and endless sentences to realize, for myself - without anyone's help - that this beauty queen is in WAY over her head.
I understand that she appeals to a working class rural white family-oriented population with a long history of being skepitcal toward intellectuals, so I get why they defend her. In many ways, discrediting Palin as qualified is seen as a personal attack against the individuals who see a lot of themselves in her. I just think that demographic could do a lot better for itself - a lot of really smart, sophisticated people in that demographic. I've spent a lot of time living amongst them and there are many I'd vote for before her.

I agree, Qualyle, like Palin just did not know when to stop talking and their handlers did a poor job of curbing their babble.
Like yourself, I did not use the MSM to make up my mind about Palin. What I did was watch the interviews she gave and watched the debate. I was NOT impressed. Along with that McCain has a health issues and the thought of Palin beinging one step away from the Whitehouse just sent shivers up my back, I know I was not alone in that feeling. Her selection was obvious pandering and when she first joined the team many Republicans were trying to use her to garner female voters, where they messed up is underestimating how smart women really are when it comes to voting. There are better alternatives to Palin, Republican women with a long history of leadership and service. We have one here in Texas, KBH, that would have been a far better choice and if needed could have stepped into the Whitehouse and done the job with the skill required. The Palin fans will try singing her praises again in 2012, heck they are trying now, but I believe they will be very disappointed, I cannot believe that the Republican Party Leadership would be dumb enough to try her against a President running for re-election. If they did, I think it would spell the end of the Republican Party.
