Fewer rich? Good - we needed to break our addiction anyway, and stop treating them as royalty.

Quit worrying about mid-terms and/or 2012. Admit that extra revenue will most likely have to be raised by various tax increases. Most Americans are okay with increased taxes for Health Care Reform. In my opinion, a majority of people will appreciate the brutal honesty. If cable news throws a fit, who cares ... it's time to do what is right - 1) Reform Health Care 2) Be honest about revenue.
OP, I agree with you (mostly).
But your thread title will likely not attract much debate.

History Lesson:

George H.W. Bush - "Read My Lips. No New Taxes". Four years later he was unemployed.

Fast Forward to 2009:

Barack Obama - "You will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime." Obama will go around his ass to get to his elbow to make sure that new revenues are not characterized as taxes. He will not be honest about taxes for fear of being a single term president.

Some of you people wouldn't know what balls (in the context of this thread) were if they slapped you in the face.

Real balls is not succumbing to the temptation to have knee-jerk, "cowboy" reactions to world events.

Really? That is what you have got out of this entire thread?

Haha, that is awesome.

Historical example is a republican - and this happened.
We agree here.

But then you start using your crystal ball.
The word "will" starts appearing all over the place.

Would that be the same kind of knee-jerk reaction as signing an Executive Order to close Guantanamo Bay before you have somewhere to send all the prisoners - only to have that policy come back and slap you in the face?

Is that the same kind of knee-jerk reaction you're referring too?

Very sensible. But who is going to finance the spending spree Obama is on, isn't he going to get it from the rich. Oh yeah if there are fewer rich he will be coming after everyone else.

Article shows how we arrived at our current deficit.
Maybe you could look at the article's linked chart and specify what you mean by spending spree.

Are you really insinuating that it's possible Mr. Obama had a lapse in [good] judgement? Blasphemy!

He's actually only spent 45Billion of the stimulus so far. He knows better than to spend the rest domestically. You can't domestically monetize your debt you *******’d out to China and have them be OK with it. At least he knows that – Unless he wants to buy $500 cheeseburger.
