Without a doubt there needs to be a secluded and isolated area for repeat pedophiles, sex offenders, and other criminal minded people to live in the United States. They will not be deprived of rights, it will not be a prison since that doesn't really work, but they will need to keep away from children and from other vulnerable people. This should keep them from having job and housing search problems and keep them from molesting and using people for illegal means.

Wasilla, Alaska would be a good place for such a "community".

Each major city can have a segregated crime Ghetto that works as a village to house pedophiles and such. It should be video monitored and patrolled by police.

I've contemplated a similar solution (except far, far outside the city limits). The only problem with this is that these slimeballs aren't supposed to be allowed to associate with each other. I guess it's more likely they'll re-offend if they can feed off each other.

That's extremely unrealistic. They will associate with each other in low income trailer parks and apartments or back in prison.

At least a crime ghetto is monitored and has rules to live by similar to HOA.

Of course it's unrealistic, which is why I said they aren't supposed to associate with each other. To bring this to this particular case, associating with another known offender would be considered a violation of this guy's plea deal, and if he's caught doing it, he can get his ass thrown back into the slammer to serve out the remainder of his 20 year sentence.

It'd be pretty hard to retain that restriction if we were to intentionally house them all in a single neighborhood. [quote=drinkme;9351540]

Despite this cretins light sentence, if he is put into genpop, a year could be an eternity. As another poster mentioned, pedophiles don't last long outside protective custody in the joint. Unfortunately and, all to often, they are segregated and kept safe during their sentence.

they'll reoffend anyway, regardless...let them feed off each other...what people don't understand, is....this is their way of life, it is an uncontrollable desire/urge to molest children (which to me is the most disgusting thing on the face of this earth) it is partically a control thing, some of them were molested in their childhood, it is addictive for them, and they cannot control themselves....so...put them all in a room together and let them literally feed off each other, as long as they are never released into society again.

As I outlined before, no one really stops to think of the harm they do to children...the scars last sometimes a lifetime....and, they cannot be rehabilitated...it's proven, they've done years of tests.....the percentage is less then 1% rehabilitation.

But, our country insists, it is inhuman to put them away for life...

our country also insists that hard core criminals have rights...in my book, they threw away their rights when they broke the law....

how bout all the law abiding citizens of this country...? I think it is insulting to those of us who obey the laws....to allow these freaks to go free...

I'm sorry, but no one, has any idea of the guilt a child goes thru, the loss of trust, the loss of a simple life...the fears, the lack of sleep....the nightmares...

I think every member of society, should have to sit in a group theropy of people who have been molested...and then see if they feel so caring for the criminals. It is an insult to humanity to feel for these warts on the butt of society....

you break the law, you do the time, and I don't really give a hoot if your the pope or the president. They're are way to many people getting away with murder today...
and, by the way, you can murder someone without killing them...leaving them with a life of despair, hurt and pain.

yanno, humanity has completely lost the insight, that no matter what we do, say or think, we effect the lives of so many other people....in a very negative way...or it can be a positive way...but even when we blurt out advice to another, it could stagnate them and keep them from completely their journey the way they were supposed to. we have become individualists...it's very sad and chaotic when criminals have rights....

Now, I think sex offenders and pedophiles are as disgusting and repellant as the next person, but I have to say that cases like this are the downside to being a law abiding society.

Is it a travesty that the guy is apparently guilty and getting such a light sentance? Yes. But what's the alternative? Having people declared guilty until proven innocent? Locking someone away without evidence? Ruining the lives of innocent people on the merest hint of an accusation? You'd think that the whole Satanist daycare hysteria from the 80s would have taught people the problem with that approach.

Do we really want an atmosphere conductive to a repeat of the McMartin Preschool trial?

Forgetting about the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act?

If the prosecutors had been really overzealous they would have fabricated links between the guy and some jihadi group in order to do those (blatantly unconstitutional) things.
