it is fascinating that americans would rather turn on each other, finding different groups to tax, than address the issue of government overspending (and wasteful spending) in the first place.

And in what irresponsible way would the newly collected revenue be utilized?
Talk about fat, our government needs to go on a diet.
enough is enough.

Nah, that would make too much sense.

But since 'the government' is supposedly us, that would still be turning on each other
As far as the rest.....hell, we're all going to get it.....this bantering is just about who's going to get it first and for a specifically cited excuse

Ahh no.. I am not overweight at all so why should I pay a tax on a cheeseburger or steak?!

How about tax NO ONE and just let people make their own decisions???

In the US you are free to be fit or free to be a fat walrus.

Unless socialized medical care becomes an unfortunate reality, whether others are fat-asses will remain not to have an affect on me.

Overeating and not exercising are the problems, not junk food. How are you gonna stop those two things?

You can tax junk food, but people will still overeat if they really want to. There's also no way to make anyone workout and exercise if they don't want to do it.

Hopefully people will start taking better care of their heath without any taxes. A book on nutrition doesn't cost much, and you don't have to be super intelligent to know how to read.

I think taxing "weight" maybe going too far....however the bigger one is the more resources one would need. We tax smokers....for health reasons , so why not other groups? It's debatable.
