Before the libs get their panties in a bunch, I'm not saying Obama is the only president to do this. Heck I don't even know if he is or not, but doesn't that just seem tacky if you're a member of congress to ask the POTUS for his signature after the SOTU address?

This isn't a rock concert or a book signing. He isn't some Hollywood celebrity with fawning fans drooling over his every move (well in the case of the dems in congress, they may indeed believe him to be that).

Is it just me, or did that just seem incredibly inappropriate for audience members, mainly congress, to hold out papers and pens for Obama to sign as he was walking out of the SOTU address?

They do it every year I've watched the SOTU. I can't fault someone for wanted a signed copy of a President's SOTU speech.

I always thought it was crass. Is it copies of the SOTU address that he's signing? It always appeared to me that they were signing little pieces of paper.

It looked like folded up pieces of paper to me, not copies of his address.

I don't know, collector's item or not, I think it's tacky to do on national TV but that's JMO.

No matter what your political views are, getting a signature from any of the SOTU addresses would be a memento.

I think it's "ok" to do.

they hand out folded copies of the speech, when I looked up this practice online, it said many people get the speech signed then they can frame it and put it in their office.

Seems a little weird, but it's a tradition almost, as every President does it.

Yes its just you. You see Obama had already given his speech and thats why he was there. After it was over if someone wanted to get his autograph to mark this historic occasion ,maybe for a grandchild to keep etc .its really of no concern to you or me. The TV clowns would have a camera in the mens room watchin him if they could gezzzz....Sounds like a teabagger whine to me.
