Just more proof that truth is stranger than fiction:
A Kansas-based church known for celebrating at the funerals of American soldiers killed in war plans to protest Friday at Fairfax High School because the student body elected a gay male teen as its prom queen.
Why does anyone care enough about this to have a protest?
What seems to be even more hilarious is that the church feels that American soliders are "purposely killed by God due to America's tolerance of homosexuality."
Those idiots showed up in Silverton, Oregon, to protest the election of a cross dressing mayor. I've never lived in Silverton; my ex lived outside of there a few miles and I've spent a lot of time there, though. When the Kansas people showed up to protest, quite a few of the residents responded by dressing in drag to show thier support for the mayor that they had elected, and the Kansas people slunk away.

The thing is, these people should simply be ignored. Literally, do not look their way, do not listen, do not move out of the way when walking past. Simply act like they do not even exist, surely that would p**s them off more than anything. These people have got to be diagnosed as clinically mentally disturbed. Actually crazy...doing the same thing over & over again hoping for a different result. What do they think they're going to achieve?
Ideally, maybe...but I liked Silverton's response to them:
Quote:
The counterprotesters were waiting across the two-lane street -- men in skirts and boots, moms with babes in arm, lifelong Silverton residents alongside kids playing hooky from Salem schools. The crowd of about 150 waved and drummed and hugged. Their signs, homemade, hurriedly produced on office laser printers and painted on the back of campaign yard signs, focused on the positive.
"My love is bigger than your hate," read one. "We love Stu (and so does God)." "Everyone is welcome in Silverton."...

They serve their purpose. First, they're so ridiculous, I look at it as entertainment. And second, they make it easier to associate the anti-gay crowd with wackos and extremists - such as the Westboro Baptist Church.
Location: I currently exist only in a state of mind. one too complex for geographic location.
