Besides the "peaceful transition of power" from one ethnic group to another or "something else" can you envision any alternate outcomes, or only these two rather vague future scenarios?

The questions that I asked stillkit were in the context of his post at the top of page three of this thread. It was an attempt on my part to flesh out his views in more detail.

In answer to your question, I can easily envision many different kinds of future scenarios that this country may take in the 21st century. My views on the matter are not nearly as simple as you're making them out to be.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you resurrecting this thread?

Unfortunately without the federal government, the midwest won't have any money to grow its food. Midwestern farming is so heavily subsidized it's almost absurd. Not to mention how absolutely unsustainable it is. As soon as oil prices rise enough, the big machines will be of no use.

I think America will be very different by the end of the 21st century. At the rate we are going it will be different in a bad way.

The 21st century has only just begun! "Resurrecting" a thread that discusses the events of a century we have only just entered seems pretty fair dialogue!

the loss of freedom which you lament started with the Bush administration, after 9-11, the perfect opportunity to control the american lemmings. It disappoints me that Obama does not try to reverse more forcefully the evilnesses of the Bush era.

I would say yes. However, just as the penny has been around for over two centuries, the value has diminished greatly.

I just don't get what's wrong with continuing dialogue on an old thread as opposed to starting an entirely new one. Especially if the "old thread" deals with issues relative to the next several decades!!!! Why is it "old" if it is meant to discuss issues of the 21st century?!
