Time will tell -- the reason the North Koreans are pulling all these stunts is that they perceive the current American administration as weak.

They'll do something like kidnap and imprison two harmless women journalists, then they'll point missles at us, each time testing our reaction. Each step will be more bold.

There are reasons they're doing these things - don't be mistaken in that.

And Ticondiroga class guided missile cruisers have the Aegis weapons system, capable of hitting an incoming warhead. We recently took out one of our own satellites with a version of this weapons system. I believe North Korea is bluffing , however we still need to take them seriously but without any hysteria or "hyping" up the situation.
Stop being all reasonable, this is the Internet!

Seriously, you're dead-on. If the latest nuclear tests are anything to go on, NK nuclear warhead technology is not going to produce anything that'll fit a missile anytime soon. And so far, NK's missiles have scored perfect hits on - the ocean.

If they manage to lob something into US airspace, take it out and get serious. (unless - wheels within wheels - do we want to display the capabilities of the THAAD system? China would love to see what it can do, inorder to redesign their missiles. Which work.)

If not, well - there's a lot of sky and if they want to spend half their GNP on celebrating July 4th with a fireworks display, it's their money.

Anyway, all this is symbolic. Symbols, as a wise man once said, is for the symbol-minded.

In reality, the people who'll get to suffer from a shooting war with NK is - the South Koreans. Are they going to want to die by the tens of thousands for an empty missile flying over Hawaii?

You attribute far too much rational decision making to the truly insane man desperate for power running North Korea. This blundering has happened throughout the Bush administration and Clinton before that.

I trust that our defenses are focused on them and action will be taken if a missle launches.

Considering all the crap he took from the NY Times, no wonder Bush didn't want the reporter freed. Maybe he would have acted if a FOX reporter was kidnapped
