I doubt it will pass but this is further evidence to elect more progressive people to office. No one under the age of 40 should be elected unless they agree with progressive ideas and will actually vote for them.

Hell according to the posts so far, this is progressive.

Great idea. If it fails, what about bringing back Prohibition? Same thing.

I'm not a pot smoker, but who cares if someone wants to smoke it. I have absolutely no problem with adults getting high on pot. Who knows, we might have fewer wife beaters, less violence, and less drunks on our roads (don't stoners like to stay home and veg instead of going out to clubs and bars). Also, the gov't would save a lot of money and maybe we wouldn't have problems with prison overcrowding. I wonder how many Americans are still locked up for having less than 3.5 ounces of weed.

Smoking pot is actually healthier than smoking cigarettes.

Not very progressive. It is already legal to grow and possess marijuana for personal use in Alaska, up to 4 ounces or 20 plants, and has been since 1974.

As far as the feds are concerned, marijuana is not and never has been illegal. The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 made marijuana a controlled substance, requiring a federal tax stamp to grow or possess. The federal government stopped issuing marijuana tax stamps after WW II in 1945. So the federal crime is not having the federal tax stamp while being in possession of marijuana, not just the mere possession of marijuana.

Ya, but when I get home after a tough day of work, I don't want to have to jump on a plane to Alaska to unwind..!
