Probably. I would imagine sales of Valium and Xanax would plummet.

Since federal laws overrides any state law, no state is it found legal.

I am sure they differ in groups. I have known those who have done both as well. I also have known those who swear tobacco is harmful and pot is not. Although, I must admit their understanding of basic chemistry is extremely poor. The fact remains that even on this board in the "anti-tobacco" forums, I have heard bone heads claim Pot to be less harmful when in fact it contains the same carcinogens as tobacco minus the specifics between them (THC vs Nicotine).

As I said, I really do not care if people smoke it. My problem is in the brain dead idiots who attempt to claim differences between them when they couldn't figure out their head from their ass.
This is what progressives are up against and why legalization would never occur in most places. Throw in the Christian Taliban and this kind of legislation does not go far, I'm afraid.

I wish it were not so, to those states in this country that have decriminalized pot, I applaud your forward way of thinking. Illinois is at least trying to make medical marijuana legal. Which kind of proves the whole "make it illegal" argument even more absurd, as the drug provides relief from pain, among other things.

Alcohol can be purchased at the age of 21, so you should be able togrow and possess a friggin' plant for your own personal use.

Only in cases where federal laws may be applied...good old tenth amendment. To date I do not think anyone has brought a federal court case regarding the Alaskan constitution's right to privacy and marijuana use vs federal laws and which apply in this regard. Additionally all of the Alaska state court cases from Ravin v. Alaska 1975, to Noy v. State (2003) have upheld Alaskan citizens right to possess small amounts of marijuana. In other words it is uncertain which laws have sway as they have not been fought out in federal court.

And considering the most recent supreme court case on marijuana it seems the courts are erring on the side of states rights.

Medical marijuana sales are legal in around 4 or 5 states (I think)

The state of Alaska has found it legal according to our Constitution.

The majority of our law enforcement personnel is here employed by the state of Alaska and not by the federal government.

The feds aren't exactly behind every tree here looking to arrest people for what they do in the privacy of their own homes.

this threads too serious. just roll up a fatty. I wouldn't recommend a cross joint, it's totally overrated. Just roll up an L or Use the big rizzla papers. I suggest using tobacco to save the green and it burns smoother. Download the program WINAmp and put on the visualizations. Listen to the band Thievery Corporation and the song Amerimacka, it will be a good time I promise

When the federal government moves it is a like a mighty avalanche ready to engulf those who appose it. Don't think the DEA eyes are not focused on you. Obama could use the attack on Alaska's stance on pot as a victory against Palin. Politics can be brutal.

Problem is that "stance" came long before Palin, and it wouldn't stick. Obama is a more skillful politician than that.
