If you ask me we should be watching what is going on in Iran as an example of what we need to do as we confront the socialist who want to remake the U.S. in their own image.

Are you advocating overthrow of the government? Isn't that treason?

Iranians have been betrayed by their government, it's up to them to change that government.

As we have known all along, Obama is a spineless coward. He fooled a lot of dummies into voting him into office, now he kicks back and does nothing but aim our country towards ruin.
I hope we can survive another 3 1/2 yearsd until he gets grand slammed out of office...

The UN of all things, has spoken up for the Iranian people, where our administration has failed to do so. How embarassing.

I think this is a MAJOR foreign policy failure for the presiden, whatever side you take. Almost a week of unrest and the U.S. stays silent. Now - it seems the administration is waking up and acknowledging it's own mistake in a "catch up" mode. Last night (during a press dinner) and today he has come out with some announcements dictating the right of assembly should be allowed and a slight warning to the Iranian leadership that "the world is watching". Too little too late, but still it's something.

For the people in this post that are supporting the president - be very careful. It seems, slowly, the things you indicated about the presidents "wise decision to not get involved" are falling apart as the administration is sliding more and more into support and "damage control" mode.

Which brings me to the Youtube clip, what it shows up is a snippet, it can't be considered in depth analysis, it can't tell us who deep is the support being expressed. It may be the only news but it is very, very limited in what it can tell us.
You've seen the photos right? The opposition protests are like 20 sarah palin rallies put together (crowd estimates at 1 million in Tehran alone). Except on Monday at least, they marched in silence.

And finally, shouting death for one cleric is not the same of shouting death to the Iranian Revolution. This is a power struggle and everyone has their own set of clerics, death to one, ascendency for another. The names change but how does policy follow is the critical issue for the U.S.
I'm sure someone was arguing that, but you responded to me.
And I wasn't arguing that.

However, I do think some good can come from this for Iran.
And us.

What I won't do, is speculate on the outcome as I've only been learning about their government for 8 days.

EDIT: Violence today is the big HINT that the mood has changed.
Events have largely been peaceful since last weekend.

Now you hear things of people saying good-bye (in emails, twitter).
That they are ready to be martyred.

Poor Puppet Bo, his aides are falling down on the job in not telling him just what to do next.

Do you feel that the US should stay in the UN? Do you respect the UN?

Another thing I heard yesterday on NPR was that Obama doesn't want to be seen as a "tool" of the Iranian opposition. Does that word ring a bell with any of you neo-cons?
