I don't know who's providing the answers here about Jesus not supporting health care reform; but it sounds like the Devil quoting scriptures for his own purposes.

So Jesus healed the sick, not the government that eventually crucified him. But there's another verse all you so-called good Christians have forgotten:

Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21).

For those of you who turn your backs on those children with pre-existing conditions under the excuse that it's government that's too big:

"....For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43: I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or SICK or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."

AND for those of you who will be bankrupted by huge taxes and won't be able to afford a second flat screen TV, cable TV, your weekly 6 packs of beer, and manicures and never think twice how much that money could help a child without health care survive:

"...sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

You know, Jesus gave up a perfectly gave up a perfectly good job that paid good money. He didn't have a pot to pee in, or a window to throw it out of. But if he did have money, he would have given it all away to help others. I suppose that must make him a loser in your books.

"Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."

It's all about the money isn't it? It galls you to work so hard for that Wii, and those Walmart shopping sprees, and have to have the government force you to share your toys. It's not fair, is it? Remember how your mom MADE you be nice to your jerky little brother or pesky little sister? Couldn't your Mom see that you shouldn't have to share your toys with that brat who did nothing but pick on you? You hated it then, and you hate it now.

"...He kills a fatted calf to celebrate his return. The older brother resents the favored treatment of his faithless brother and complains of the lack of reward for his own faithfulness. But the father responds: " 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'

If you trust in God, and believe what Jesus taught, you'll have faith that Health Care Reform can not destroy us. We can work together to see that Health Care Reform works the way it should.

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Do you like the "Pledge of Allegiance"? Well ,if you do then you might also like socialism, because it was written by a "Christian Socialist", Francis Bellamy, in 1892, being influenced by his first cousin ,Edward Bellamy, author of american socialist utopian novels. Go USA!!!

Remember also, Jesus ,instructed people, that if they really want to get to heaven they should give all their money to the poor and follow him, because as long as you keep letting money matters get between you and your brother, you are sinning and endanger of the fiery furnace, for hateful thoughts. "What you did to the least of these you did to me also", I think Jesus said something along those lines...Shalom

Well according to the scripture Jesus healed thousands of people, from the officials dying son, to the leper, the paralyzed man, the blind man at Bethsaida etc etc... Jesus never turned anyone away because of a pre-existing condition. He never sent anyone insurmountable bills that ultimately led to financial futility. He never rationed healthcare to those who could afford it, while excluding those who could not, and in his eyes healthcare was not a luxury, it was simply the Christian thing to do.

I am absolutely convinced that one cannot be a Christian and oppose comprehensive healthcare reform that would cover millions of sick and uninsured Americans.
There was government when Jesus was alive. Can you show me a passage where Jesus said government should take care of health care?

Why do people even think Jesus was pro-government? I'm not what you would call religious but i do know this much. It was government trying to kill Jesus' moms and pops in Bethleham And it was government that crucified Jesus.

Call me crazy but this leads me to think that Jesus was no fan of government.

Interesting but built on the entirely false premise that universal healthcare is superior to what we have, er, had. Jesus never fined those who didn't get care or forced them to go to a healer of his choice

Why can't they be? Are you saying that nobody can be a Christian? Interesting.

So you are saying we should oppose health care then?

So we have concluded that you think nobody can be a Christian and that we should oppose health care reform.

Thanks for the input.

See, I can twist things to mean anything I like as well!

Its just a clever way of wording the argument "If you don't support health care, it is because you want people to die". Different words, appeals to religious principals, yet states the exact same message.

I don't know what is getting more tiring, be it the constant unethical political ploys to condemn those who disagree with the bill, or the fact that they really think we are that stupid to not see through their weak arguments.

Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. -(Matthew 7:15-20)

Wrong book, put down the Communist Manifesto and pick up the writings of the founders. Maybe take a passing through the Federalist Papers for a start.
