Emergency Medical services (health), in my area, are private companies.

Doctors are in business for themselves - and get compensated by insurance. They are not employees of, nor work "for", insurance companies

No dude I kid you not. I almost crapped in my pants when I heard that myself. I know it is hard to believe, but it is true.

The amount doctors get paid is artificially lower than it is. THey say doctors make around 145K a year on average. That is not true. That is about what you start at after residency. During residency they average about 45K a year. If you take out the residency average the doctors are making about 200K a year and that is just family doctors. Specialist make a lot more money.

How much money a specialist makes is determined by where they are geographically and whether they work for a hospital or have there own group working through a hospital. They bill by the procedure. She does a lot of procedures but she still takes vacation 8 weeks out of the year.

Now lets talk about the geographical effect, which is inverted. In a normal labor market lets mississippi for example the wages of an accountant are considerably lower than the wages of an accountant say in New York City, which is just the opposite for Doctors. Since the AMA has created a shortage of doctors and specialist, these places have to pay more for doctors because it is not as desirable a place to live as say living on the coast or wherever. So if you are a specialist performing a lot of procedures in a location that has a dearth of doctors you can pull down big bucks.

In all these discussions and debates the original premise is that everyone has a "right' to healthcare, or everyone "deserves" healthcare.

Is it possible that not "everyone" needs, wants or deserves it?
And why is it that those who do have healthcare, and pay dearly for it, are expected to provide it for those who can't or won't.

Are the ones who have it expected to pay for health problems related to lifestyle?
For instance: A slow witted vegan is riding his bike to the pro-abortion/anti-war/pro-cannabis/anti-WTO rally and is hit by a sustainable fuel burning NY Times delivery truck. Who will be expected to pay for the emotional healing therapy that will be mandated by the health bureau czar?

Too many unanswered questions.

And Americans are far more confident in Democrat's ability to improve the health care system than the Republicans (no brainer IMHO).

Almost 60% indicated they would be willing to pay higher taxes to ensure that everyone has health insurance...

Polling data like this is going to make it a lot easier for Obama and the Democrats to move us towards UHC - starting with a system of public/private health care components to begin with - and probably several years down the road making bolder and more comprehensive change.

Radiologist Salaries USA at MDsalaries - The Physician Salaries Blog (http://mdsalaries.blogspot.com/2005/10/radiologist-salaries-usa.html - broken link)

You will notice that it is about 300K average in the bigger cities. You actually get paid more in the smaller more rural areas and much more if it is a partnership which my friend has. They are several radiologist. No administrative staff. The hospital actually owns all of the equipment. They have virtually no overhead other than the offices.
That 850,000 is what she is actually paid not actually what is billed. They only receive 43% of what is billed.

You can always tell the welfare types who want the free government run health care can't you?

No way in the world most people want the government to control their health care and then cost us all 62,500 per person to have the Obama care plan even started.

Then double that 62,500 for those of us who have to pay for losers who wont work and do not pay a dime into the tax base.

No way, no how do we want the French disaster to happen here.

Move to France is you want free healthcare. They will be glad to take you.

Sorry - but you're the one who will have to move - your opinion on the matter is in the distinct minority...

Guess you'll be forced to pay a portion for those 'welfare types' you so arrogantly insult...

Say - why don't YOU move to another country???

It may or may not work out that way...
