Considering the job and that the same thing happened to past Presidents (although not quite so quickly) I don't think he would have to fake going gray.

I agree, I don't think the grey is fake.
Going grey would be more apparent on him with is coloring and short hair. Clinton had lighter, longer hair and so wouldn't be as noticable early on. Same with Bush.
