I am thinking more along the lines of the declaration of independence. thomas jefferson was the founding father of the country, and conservatism. today, he would be considered a libertarain. he knew that government only ruins things, and he's the greatest mind this country has ever seen.

Following the rights given to the government by the constitution. You can say that you don't agree with whats being done, but claiming the founding fathers and the constitution is on the conservatives side is false and a blatant lie, commonly used by conservatives in an attempt to not debate and actual proposed set of ideas or solutions.

thats your opinion on about Jefferson. It doesn't excuse the tactic you tried to use about the founding fathers. There were liberals and conservatives and our solutions and Ideas were just as valid then as it is today.

The following quote by Samuel Adams is very apt for Americans who choose not to attend Tea Parties:

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

Incidentally, here's a very well-made introduction to the American form of government, as established by the Founders.

I'm truly mesmerized by some of the teapartiers. I have a friend who is heading to a local party who is pretty clueless about why. He has no idea what policies have been enacted in the past century by what presidents and how economics works. Basically he is an upset republican who wanted to see Palin (didn't even care about McCain - except for him being a POW) in office. So I asked him a few basic questions regarding globalization and why the sudden onset of concern regarding our monetary policy. Having beaten the streets to get ballot access for the Libertarians in 2000 and 2004, and having been maced at protests I have to say that most teapartiers are pretty weak and uninformed.

Where were you in 99 when the riots were ripping across Seattle from the WTO?
Oh yeah that was just dirty hippies right?

How many have protested the IMF?

What exactly are you protesting on July 4th? Are you willing to stand up to police officers in riot gear if they show up?
