Somehow I don't see anything honest in those words, expecially the words exercise in Extremism. Somehow that has a real partisan sound to it.

Could you supply a shrunk down version of the Texas Democrat platform for 2008? I would prefer that it come from TFN just as this one did. I think that libs talk about misinformation from the right but am very sure this is exactly that from a lib site. Sorry, but that is what I see here.
I'll look for it - but this is the EXACT same document from the Texas Republican Party website.

How can you deny it when it's right there in the Texas Republican Party's platform?

Their platform is all about restricting freedom and liberty. They want to make oral and anal sex illegal again. They want to ban pornography. They want to make it a felony to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple. And those are examples I saw after looking at the platform for about 60 seconds. There's obviously lots more.

I thought it might have been an exaggeration too when I first saw the post, but no, this is what today's Republican Party of Texas wants for their state. Scary.

Doesn't sound like he /she is really a republican at all.Either that or she/she does nderstand the difference between the parties.He/she is proably sitting there in teaxs thinking that the much better sate of the econmy is by accident rather than by actions.

I am a Republican. I understand the difference between parties. The much better state of the economy in Texas IS DUE TO REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP. I said that in several posts - I'm terrified of the Democrats gaining control over Texas. But I'm afraid that's exactly what will happen if the Texas GOP gets even worse or the official platform is not changed significantly.

Have you asked your Rep about that document ?
I think I will send an email to mine and ask about it.

Good idea. I wonder what he'll say.

As far as my state senator, she's a Democrat so no point in sending it to her.

I would say that the document should change to reflect the true party platform; the one we operate under.

I'm neither Rep nor Dem but I am conservative in my thinking. Our state government is run in a conservative way and I am happy with it. They seem to be both fiscally and socially responsible. I see what is happening in the cities though (Austin, Dallas, Houston, etc) due to Democratic/liberal majorities with the spending and budgets and social programs and I too fear Democratic control at the state level would not be a good thing.

I think this points to a dilemma in the Republican Party. Are you for less government intervention or not? I can't see how anyone in favor of freedom and liberty can read that platform and still want to be a Republican - at least in Texas.

Just saw that they want to teach abstinence-only education (even though such programs are an utter failure), raise the age of consent to 18, and classify pornography as an "addictive substance".

My guess is your talking about buying votes by not satnding for what you bel;eieve in. look at hiostroy of the parties and you weill see things constantly chage has to what kind of chnage this couhntry wants. The democtas always lose when spending.crime ;and secutry become more imnportant i their minds. its like the shift to mroe conservative governamnt in europoe how. ASs Biden recently sadi teh political pendelum swing constntly in thsi country.Looking at recent polls they all show that the recent deficit spending is the #1 thing on peoples minds now.
