America is in decline because of the value system that has been in place since America begin. Too much value is placed on money, people refuse to help eachother unless money is involved or they are getting something in return. On top of that America has been on top for a long time and it is time that we are brought back to reality. Those that are wealthy in American society are selfish and only care about making money, never stopping to look at the faces of those in poverty. Human nature is self preservation at the expense of everyone else.

The other reason we are looking at the news and seeing people who have lost millions of dollars is because many of them became rich through "ILL GOTTEN GAINS", they lied, cheated and stepped on those less fortunate to get rich so now they are REAPING WHAT THEY SOWED!!

America was built on a foundation of CORRUPTION, GREED, RAPE, THEFT AND MURDER!! Land was stolen from Native Americans, Blacks were forced into slavery which resulted in the free labor that built America and made it the wealthy nation it is today. Ladies and gentlemen America did not become a wealthy world superpower because it had such brilliant people, America became a wealthy world superpower because it took by force, stole, lied and cheated other people and built it's wealth throught "ILL GOTTEN GAIN"!! and on the backs of Native Americans, Blacks and others.

America and it's citizens have profited from it's deceit for decades and now we are going through economic hard times because it is time to pay back what was stolen so many years ago. I believe that we will have to sit down and take the back seat to other nations soon. No empire lasts forever, especially an empire that is built on corruption!

Our economic problems can not simply be summed up by blaming the policies of the past and current president and other politicians. In order to understand the problems that we face today we must look back to the past. God is not pleased with this country or it's people!!

I´m totally in your opinion! You got it so right, but most americans and most people all over the world don´t know this.

By the way, our German industrial power -which is also in decline - is partly built on the nazi economy, and surprisingly most of the companiy chiefs weren´t accused by the judges ... their money went to places like south america, than it came back. I wouldn´t wonder, if they saved their money in european or Wallstreet banks too ...

Another thing: American (and british) bankers gave billions of credits before both world wars (especially 1st world war) to all parties, even the Nazis got their loans from Morgen Chase and others, the cooperation between the bush grandpa and the Nazi company Thyssen- Krupp (which takes still a leadig position in steal and weapon production) is well known.

And don´t forget that the european capitalist elite chose America as a headquarter for their capitalist interests - the bill of rights and all the important values got economy friendly (private ownership above everything, tearing down socialist movements and labor unions, even american churches pray capitalism ...), private posession is saved well to a degree which gave the big companies and bankers a power their counterparts in europe don´t reach.

Many German bankers left Germany in the first decades oif the 20th century for the american robbery capitalism and built up powerful banks (Lehmann, Golmann, Sachs, Schröder, Warburg ...)

This is another fact: America buys its scientists from all over the world

But I don´t want to bash only America, our european powers also try to hide their dark shadows (colonialism/triangle trade, profit of fashism) unter their shining surface!

Yep, face it.....the whole damned planet is one big stinking cesspool of greed and elitism. What's a poor boy to do?

Yeah, we peaked in the '90's. Clinton began the tearing down process with NAFTA and China most favored nation trading. But Bush II, and so far Obama have done nothing to fix anything.....it just keeps getting worse. Kinda makes ya think it's all by design, huh?

If Pre-Columbian N. America didn't have Indian tribes already living here, and no slavery had existed, British America (US) would've only turned out even more prosperous and successful than it did. The US was created by Anglos and built primarily by the Colonist's descendants and to a lessor extent European immigrants. It was these later immigrants that pushed for globalization that has ruined America, not the old stock Americans.

Excerpt: Eight years after 9/11 we still haven't rebuilt the WTC site with anything.

Response: An 11 year old post still making the rounds? Where is that poster now?

People who claim that we peaked in the '60s and '70s must not have been around in the '60s and '70s. Wild times those were.

Since 2000 our stock market is down 30%, average incomes are down slightly, life expectancy is declining in many areas, and our economy has been losing huge amounts of jobs for over 2 years. After thousands of dead soldiers we are at best in a stale mate in two wars and China is about to pass us as the world's largest economy. Eight years after 9/11 we still haven't rebuilt the WTC site with anything.

Is it fair to say our civilization has peaked and is now declining?

If by "our civilization" you mean America, then yes, we are in a slow decline. I give us maybe 20 years before the debt problem explodes with 1/2 our population over 65 and collecting Social Security and Medicare. That along with Coronavirus breaking the healthcare system. I believe we'll settle into a smaller collection of territories like we were in the early 1800's in the West as groups of states combine to from their own governances because the Federal government has lost its power. Let's face it: the US is too vast and its population too diverse to be held together much longer. Like the Soviet empire, groups of states will want to free themselves from the tyranny and ineptitude of Congress and the President.

We're toast.

I'm glad I'm old and have 65 good years behind me, and 65 years less of this BS to live through.
