Glenn Beck is constantly being attacked by small minded people because he is popular, correct on the issues and people listen to him.

Yes he attacks the dems. If McCain/republicans would have won and was doing the things the Obama administration are doing to this country, he would attack the republicans just as furiously.

So far awesome.

I am liking Beck more and more all the time.

The man is onto something.

Common Sense, get it and read it. You might be amazed.

And pick up Dick Morris new book also.

DickMorris.com

In our new book, Catastrophe, we spell out clearly how Obama has disarmed us in the war on terror and excoriate him for giving Hamas almost $1 billion in foreign aid funneled through the United Nations relief agency in Gaza that takes orders from Hamas.
Hmmmm... this particular poster listed his/her location as "Who voted for this Spender in Chief?" and then goes on to list DICK MORRIS as someone whose opinion is worth anything more than the toilet paper I just used.

Yeah.... this is Glenn Beck's target audience. No wonder they see it as common sense. They already agree with Beck.

Everyone else sees through him as the fear-mongering propagandizing populist he is. Though, Bill O'Reilly had to explain to him what a populist is. He honestly had no clue.

He plays on the emotions of a certain audience looking for someone to throw their thoughts back at them (and then call them "common sense") in much the way Olbermann does for the left. Both are easily dismissed when given any serious consideration.

The core problem with Glenn Beck is he seems outraged at the direction the country is going, yet it was his very ideology that got us in this mess for the past 8 years. Now he's indignant that his country is off track?!? No, it's just doing what needs to be done to get back on track.

Possibly not nuts, I'm not a shrink, but he's definitely a liar. Or has he stopped flogging the "FEMA concentration camps" story? I recall once on his radio show he brought up "back in December '92, when Bill Clinton was President" (I remember that, that was the time we had the inauguration two weeks after the election), and who can forget his "Obama is the first President to not take the oath on a Bible"?

Of course the "best" (cough, cough) lines to ever come out of Beck's mouth are;

"I firmly believe every word that I say on my radio and TV shows", followed by; "If you take what I say as gospel, you are an idiot".

To both comments I can only say, right-on, righties.

don't forget when Beck demanded a guest on his show prove to him he's not working with terrorists simply because he is a Muslim.

Beck is one of those people who didn't make it past high school and uses raw emotion rooted in fear rather than sound intellectual discourse to draw conclusions. He's about as credible as Hannity (who has never uttered an independent thought in his life).

If you want intelligent right-wing perspectives, I would recommend O'Reilly. He truly thinks for himself, even if he does have anger management issues (but no one's perfect!).

Common Sense takes on big government and Beck doesn't see much difference between either political party. There are just as many slings aimed at the Bush years.

I haven't read An Inconvenient Book in awhile, I have that one, too. The only thing I might think about that one is it might be a little stale, that is, the economy in the dumper is not considered unless it has been freshened up for a paperback version.

I had no idea I would receive so many responses in a day. I post in the Columbus, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh forums on here (I've lived in all of those places) and they usually don't get as many in a 24 hour period.

I cannot comment on Beck's past personally too much, as I am just learning about it. I will say that I did purchase a copy of Common Sense tonight and I am actually enjoying it so far. I also have read a few excerpts from "An inconvenient book" and I've enjoyed those.

As someone who often agrees and disagrees with both sides, I like to read everyone, which is why I went ahead and picked up the book. Plus, it's a short and easy read. I think it's important to be open-minded to all opinions and so far, I haven't read anything from Beck that's turned me off to him. His 9/12 project, in particular, appeals strongly to me. At least in concept, anyway. Like I said though, I'm not familiar with his past comments about almost anything, so that could change; this book was simply recommended by a friend.

Please keep the responses coming, both positive and negative.

I am trying to get a copy too. I cannot wait to read it. Liberals seem terrified of anything that may dispell the propaganda they suck up like lap dogs.
Terrorism? An even bigger fear should be good old fashioned fear, or terror, if you will. Yes. The crap we have all been fed, largely through mainstream news, our whole lives. The bile that keeps us all in check, subdued like caged puppies. Were / are we any safer under the provisions of the Patriot Act? This just in from an ex Navy buddy of mine...

Here's a thought; The Patriot Act sucks. The constant usurpation of our freedoms for more so called security blows, yet the cattle go willingly down the path to the slaughter house that is subjugation.

BTW, this man is an avowed Republican.

No offense dcsldcd but your statement seems trivial and IMO really quite ridiculous. Are you another one of those who oversimplifies who the American public is? So all liberals are "lap dogs"? Really! It is no more accurate than saying Republicans, the alleged God fearing folk, are all rascist war mongers.

I don't doubt that Glenn Beck has some interesting things to say in his books. Like him or not, it takes talent to do what he does. But to see it as anything but one guy's opinions is unwise at best.

I have 'Common Sense', but I've only skimmed through it. My grandma gave it to me after she read it (she was pretty vocal about disagreeing with most of it) but I haven't had the time to go through it. It takes me FOREVER to read through political books because I'm constantly fact checking. In the past, things have been ridiculously twisted in many commentary books so I always double check things I'm not completely sure on.

I'll read it eventually, although I can't stand the man.

Steerlers Fan,

As you read the responses to your question, note those opposed to Beck never discuss his book and what he has to say in it. They attack his dress, his emotion and anything else to evade discussing substance.
