And we’re supposed to take Mr. Coleman’s word for it, since he is not going to tell us the facts of these studies nor his reasons for believing them.
OP, I suggest you keep an eye out for when an author is just saying things, without providing any facts to back it up - its a favorite tactic for people who aren't well-versed in the subject they talk about.
The point is to discourage the economy from making a series of investments that will likely fail as the globe gets warmer. It is not to "destroy" the economy it is to help the economy survive the changing conditions. Taking prudent measures is not a bad idea anytime.
We need to put our investment places less likely to get hammered by a gigantic hurricane and than on some sandbar with a great view of the ocean.
When a government says investments I get worried. Government has invested alot into research of many things, spent trillions on wars, weapons and even on climate change. My question to you is.. what climate change. I see nothing that we and this earth havent already seen. We have tornado's, hurriances, sandstorms, ice storms, etc its called nature and nature will always be destructive and CREATE new life. I would believe a polar shift is coming before man made warming. What are we doing for a polar shift and the event of that distaster, where is the government investment there. How about a astroid hitting the earth where is the investment there. Or a earthwake which has nothing to do with global warming can hit NY at anytime and destory half the city. We arent rebuilding the roads, highways, structures for these type of events yet we will do the small things like had 1.00 in tax on gas to get people off gas to a car that runs on electric. While third world nations do more damage then us and destory the climate. Because those events I listed above arent Man Made we will ignore them because we can't control people, that is until it's over and we can use fear to do it then. Where do we stop should we just kill each other and call it a day. Would we go to china and every nation with a army and kill everyone who destroys our climate. Should cars be destroyed and let us use another energy only to find out later we require more energy and destroy more of the earth in process. Many days I look outside and see a nation full of people trying to control events they can not. It makes them feel good or the meds they are on makes them believe they are doing the earth some good to recycle. Life and death are common, and some say space and time is only an illusion. The minds of the men who propose climate change have an agenda. That agenda is not about truth its about as truthful as the bible and religions.
The illusion to control nature is the biggest mistake man believes. Man believe's he is god and science is his greatest teacher. The only truth I know without science is creation is a cycle and it must change. The climate is changing because that is it's design. We did not design the earth and to fix a design or think we can change it's design is completely beyond what we can even understand. The earth will get warmer and it will get colder, spring, winter and summer and fall will happen you can invest in that.
Hmm, and then there's the folks that link to a 68 page pdf to back up a statement - expecting you to read 68 pages?
A little specificity would be appreciated.
The whole thing is very good and well researched with some heavy weight scientists, but in response to Krugmen's "debate is over, skeptics are traitors", pg. 26 isn't bad.
